Scathing article from Cleveland.com

Did you hear his press conference, he's not a quitter.
It's funny you brought this up. Brian mentioned what would I tell my kids if I quit? My response is how do you tell your kids you are the worst OC in the whole country statistically speaking!

Has nothing to do with Barta. This is all KF and boosters.

I’ve said it for years, Rob has said it here, even the guy who wrote this article says it in no uncertain terms.

Gary Barta has no power over the football program whatsoever. Zero. Zilch. KF is his boss, I don’t care what his job title says.

And that’s the problem. KF has been allowed to become the most powerful guy in the room. He’s essentially become a self-employed business owner. If this scenario happened in the banking industry the government would’ve shut it down long ago.

Nothing is going to be done until the biggest boosters turn on KF and that ain’t happening.

I've been pondering this very thing. you're right. It will be interesting if anyone in the State Legislature brings this up. That is what it might take, and even then, it may not be enough

This ends in only a few different ways.

KF retires (seems unlikely for a few yrs yet)

BF walks away for a different job (I don't see any public firing of him coming from Daddy & or Barta)

The lawsuit as it goes forward ends and with the school on the wrong end of it and firings might be forced (I doubt this as well)

KF does nothing this off season. Keeps BF and says after 'evaluating' that they'll just do better at what they like to do. Which leads to the domino effect of some season ticket holders not renewing and boosters not wanting to pony up. That could possibly lead to KFs crazy high buyout getting paid and forcing him out or maybe not. It's like north of $40 million so if that were to happen it'd probably have be an installment thing. I'm not sure how his contract reads. KFs agent Cornich I'm sure has it pretty iron clad that he's getting his $ in a lump sum way making it as tough on the school as can be to get done now.

Listen to this podcast if you want more insight into this article. I've linked it below with with the start point at about the 29:20 mark. TLDR: the writer has a significant connection to Iowa, predicted a blowout score against OSU, and picked Iowa to finish dead last in the West before the season started.
