Say goodbye to...

McCall or Canzeri. No way one or both of these guys doesn't transfer. Both had their Freshman year wasted (granted, McCall's injury was a factor) and Ferentz is clearly obsessed with Coker.

No way they both stick around knowing they're gonna sit and watch Coker run the ball 20-25 times a game for the next two years. And I wouldn't blame them.

What a waste of talent. But...we've seen it before.

I had mentioned earlier today who will be the running back to transfer. Don't forget DeAndre Johnson and Damon Bullock too. Coker, McCall, Johnson, Canzeri, Bullock all RBs next season add in recruits (if any) and one of these guys isn't going to ride the pine the next 2-3 years.

There was a time when I would relish the thought of coming here after a loss and mocking stupid threads like this. Alas, the thrill is gone. There is no sport left in it.

Resume derping...

Fact...I wonder if Deandre Johnson will pick Alabama or USC as his transfer school

I think McCall has been insurance these past two weeks in case Coker gets hurt, with Iowa will in contention...now that they are not in contention, you redshirt him.

Not sure I want to say wasted years yet...AJ Edds played as a frosh, mostly on special teams...he didn't play many meaningful snaps when the bullets were flying....it moved his development along.

Bullock goes back to receiver next year IMO, and you have to figure out some ways to use Canzeri..could be KOR and PR and some slot.

Coker and McCall split some reps next year..I think that would have happened this year and I think Iowa will want to do that.

So are we suppose to play 5 RBs a game?

Not everybody gets to play guys. Especially when the other RBs are behind one of the B10's leading rushers.

Jon, can we get some confirmation on weather McCall can still get a medical if he is medically cleared to play?????

The game has passed by this coaching staff, unfortunately we're gonna have to wait a few more years before anything changes. Our lines are going to get trampled next year.

We burned Ray Hamilton's red shirt for nothing as well.

Have you not watched how the staff has played kids the last five years? They feel playing some of the young kids that are physically able to handle it gives them a better chance of having three productive years, and puts them ahead of the scale on development. Some are acting like this has never happened before.

If you're correct Jon, and McCall can still use his medical redshirt...it makes sense. I hope that's the case.

If not...it's a colossal waste of talent and yet one more example of bad coaching and talent management by Ferentz. (that's exactly the point Jon, we have seen if before and we're tired of it.)

I'm also sick and tired of seeing a d-back back catching (not returning...just catching) punts. We pulled the shirt of Canzeri...use his speed.

So two years after a BCS Bowl and now all the coaches are oblivious to how football is played? Yeah I can see that.

Yeah. I think people are too hung up on redshirts sometimes. As many good TEs as we bring through, we don't need a four-year starter there. I like seeing some of these guys on STs. Next year, they get in the two-deep rotation, and then we hopefully get a couple of good full-time years out of them.

I understand the Iowa fans that make the "Iowa was just in a BCS game" statements, I used to be one of them.

The simple fact is this, the mistakes and non-adjustments are repeated over and over and over. Fake punts, fake fg's, on-side kicks, LB's on WR's, the list goes on.

The reality is that the Iowa staff is very good at "teaching the game, teaching technique, teaching fundaments, etc... They are well below average at game management, making adjustments, exploiting weaknesses. And they are awful at thinking outside the box.

That's what they are.

Really, you probably don't need to question Kirk's philosophy on developing players. 12 NFL draft picks in the past 2 years? I think he knows what he's doing in that department.

Game planning, adjustments, schemes, etc are all areas that are fair to question but development of athletes probably isn't.
