saw DM Roosevelts Peter Jok play last night

hes about 6'6 with real long arms.

His shot was off and he doesnt appear to play real hard. Roosevelt doesnt really run much of an offense. He was guarded by a kid 6'0 but they didnt post him up until late in the game. He is a very good passer and it looks like hes a good, not great athlete,

Souiteast Polk beat Roosevelt at Roosie without their(SEP) best player.

oh yeah, Hoiberg was there watching Jok.

Peter is full of potential but is very lazy. High major talent but at this pace he may not get himself there.

Although he plays a lot differently for his AAU team than he does for TRHS from what I hear.

I saw the same thing last year. He doesn't like to play D and seems to take plays off. He ended up getting pulled for a couple of minutes after losing his guy on D about 3 times in a row.

I've played against Jok once at the Y and came away really impressed. Obviously, that being said it's the Y. Judging by other kids from Roosevelt I have seen play that is probably his biggest challenge. Someone needs to advise him to switch schools

He will be a big time recruit before its all done. Unfortunately, I think we have a very small chance of getting him. I think he is Iowa States to lose unless the big boys come in and make a push.

I know Pete. He is not going to Iowa State, period.

I'd place a friendly gentlemans bet of a ice cold beer that he does. A bet I would gladly lose. Getting him and now the Martin Brothers team to start playing up in Ames isn't by coincidence. Its not going to change anything with the 2012 class however. I think Woodbury will be a Hawk. Gessel, great player, not sure of upside. Paige goes to one of the big boys. Jok, I hope your info. is correct.

If he continues to not play D, I doubt Fran continues to pursue him.

One thing about guys built like Jok and his cousin Luol Deng....they are very long and even look kind of awkward with all that length, and sometimes do not look all quick and hustly, but they are still covering ground with their long legs and covering well in space with their long arms and legs.
I think this is part of the reason that Deng, who is a very productive player, gets some flack here in chicago for not maxing out his potential...he is playing very well but is not smooth and looks kind of slow, but he gets it done.
Just hope Fran can pull in Peter Jok to Iowa....we need a top recruit who is willing to step out a bit and pioneer for a growing program rather than always going to the Dukes and UNCs..

I know Big Pete (Jok). He's a great kid and very respectful. He could be a quality Division 1 player. My concern is his health. This is the 3rd year in a row he's had an injury...know he was hurt a couple of weeks before the season.

He showed up at the Y and my son cringed because he was about to get schooled. My son is 6'4" and knew he was going to be expected to guard him...would not have been pretty. Anyway, Pete took about 3 shots, shook his head, grabbed his wrist and left. He's pretty frail/fragile...of course that could change since he's only a sophomore but his brother had the same build. I know he was hurt during his freshman season and also the offseason before. I hope he's a superstar but...

I agree with the poster saying he would benefit from leaving Roosevelt but it isn't going to happen...not a chance. There are too many variables in play. If Pete is as good as many think he is Roosevelt should win state in 2012 and 2013. Their sophomore class...Pete's class...is loaded.

Is Luol Deng actually his cousin? Or am I an idiot?

They will not win it in 2012. 2013 they should be a favorite though. As you said, his class at RHS is loaded. I think Ankeny and Waukee will still be too good in '12, and Ankeny will still be there in '13 as they also have a dynamite '13 class. And we are not even talking about teams from the eastern part of the state, or SC for that matter.

In an article I read recently about Jok, he indicated that he is related to Deng and Manute Bol,another NBA player.
I have also heard he is related to Luong Luong,a Sudanese player from Minneapolis who played at OK...and was 7 ft tall.

Peter Jok is the pick of the litter in Iowa, including Marcus Paige.

He won the three point shooting contest at Nike(Paige was 2nd) for his age. However, he did not compete on Sunday due to growing pains in his legs from another growth spurt he started last summer.

After he completed 8th grade, a coach worked him out exactly the same way that he had Harrison Barnes an hour earlier. He told me that Peter was better in three areas:
shooting, ballhandling and passing.

Des Moines Roosevelt will dominate the state in 2012-2013. The Shadow told me things in confidence that I can't yet reveal. Remember, The Shadow Knows!
