Sash Turning Pro

Missed tackles were plays that he was in on. That's his one flaw, IMO. And it's one that I didn't really notice until this season. I remember him being a surer tackler his freshman and sophomore years.

Maybe he was trying to protect his shoulder as much as possible. IF, and by that I mean, IF, this was a concern, then he's better off trying to get his shot in the NFL now than trying to protect himself for another year. It will hurt Iowa next year, but he's gotsta do what a man's gotsta do.

Sash going pro was on twitter from pretty solid sources and we will never know about the drug tests they are confidential.

Prater going pro was also reported by a solid source, I believe. And in any case, why are we all haggling over who broke the news first? Kind of reminds me of a line from House:

The water's boiling, the drapes are melting, and the wallpaper is peeling. Which do you fix first? NONE of them, the building's on fire.

Who cares who broke the story first?

Wes Bunting, who does this stuff for a living and is very well respected says Sash is a 4-6 RD guy, who will be the 4th safety on a team, play special teams and not be in the league very long because he does not tackle well.

He was a very good tackler up until injuring his shoulder this season. That's the problem with "experts." Have to look at the whole body of work and stuff like injured shoulders matters. He got it done despite being banged up. Anybody who thinks he'll be the fourth safety on a team is ..........Misinformed!!!

It was already scary how thin we were at safety, now without Sash we are beyond thin. Not a good situation.

Bad choice, big time. He will regret it.

I sincerely hope this was meant in sarcasm. No way did he make the wrong choice.

1. Football is a game with VERY short-lived careers
2. Sash turns 23 in May
3. He's already had 2 shoulder surgeries
4. He's pretty much peaked physically (he's not going to get much faster or stronger at this point)

He made the right call. He wasn't going to improve much with another year, and this year's safety class isn't particularly strong.

Good for Sash. I think some forget that you can always come back and finish a degree (which I think he already has now). But one mistake can stop you from a pro contract. He will get his big payday and have a solid career. Proud of what Sash has done at Iowa and can't wait to see who his replacement is and if he can fill the shoes.

It's very hard to argue with the decision based on the points you outlined...I believe he will be a better pro than Greenwood, I'm not sure who will be missed more from Iowa's team. Greenwood was the QB of the secondary.

I really liked WHite (he moved to RB this yr to provide depth). He was hurt some, but, when healthy, he has been a sp teams star. I would like to see him get a shot at CB or safety.
