Sash Tonight

I saw the tackles, didnt see the fumble. Wasnt paying much attention the first part of the game. I did notice he was always right there and had a play a couple of other times. I dont think Giant's fans will be dissappointed, he looked good, just wait until he gets a bit more play time, then he will be one of their greats.

I haven't watched any of his games, is he playing with the first team? In certain packages?

2nd team and playing on most ST including personal protector on the punt team. (He is almost 100% guaranteed a spot on the 53 man roster)

He has had an up and down preseason if you ask me but most of his mistakes have been rookie ones.

On one of the last Jets drives when they were inside the 10 he made a great play, coming down the line to get the RB in the backfield, the very next play he got sucked in by the same action and the QB kept the ball and walked into the endzone (called back for holding on another player)

I think he is going to do just fine and everything coming from the Giants camp is the really like his play making abilities he just needs more time in the system to get it all.

This is what ESPN Rotowire had to say about Greene after the game:

"Greene carried 11 times for 42 yards in Monday's preseason game against the Giants.
Spin:
Greene, who seems to be past the foot infection that slowed him recently, is slated to enter the season as the Jets' lead back, with LaDainian Tomlinson set to work in a complementary role."

So it isn't looking like he was the one who fumbled.
Good thing, because I traded McFadden for him. ;)

But to respond the original post:
I am really glad Sash is doing so well. He is one of my all-time favorites and I think if he is given the chance... that he could become a favorite for quite a few Giants fans in the years to come!

As for him getting cut, I think it would be pretty surprising if he did, considering he was facebook player of the week(or something like that) for the Giants during training camp so I think he is a lock. :)

I think he will do a great job for them. Seemed like he was a bit to early (rookie trying to impress). Had he slowed the game a bit, he would have made more plays than he did. The only time he could have reacted a bit sooner was when it got punched in from the 1, and well if he had reacted sooner to that play and they ran it to the outside, he would have really blown it. The DL blew that play. So all in all a very good job. As has been said, a little more play time and he should be stellar.
Greene, could not get it going, he had a few runs that were ok, but overall I was not impressed. Announcers had it right, he can run and can put the hit on, but the OL has to give him some space or time and they were not doing a very good job of it.

Yeah, if the O-Line plays well... I have a feeling he will be bringing in quite a few fantasy points for me, but even tonight he averaged about 4 yards per carry I think(if I did my math correctly), which is still pretty good.

I just hope they don't do what they did last year and give LT all of the goal line carries... I feel like with Greene's power that he should get that job soon enough.

"Last year, LT out-carried Greene inside the 5 by a whopping 11-3 margin."

They had Sash blitzing a lot from outside the DE. I do remember one play when Sash came flying in at the running back when the QB kept the ball did a little rollout for the TD. Sash knew better.. It didnt really matter because the play was called back from a holding.
He still looked pretty good out there. He doesnt shy from contact that is fo sho!

Did you see when he got it to short yardage and they put LT in and he got stuffed? You could argue that it was again the OL's fault, but he just doesnt have the power Greene has. I dont think he ever did, he was an open space RB. With a OL that cant make much space, I dont see LT having a good year and would think Greene gets more carries, including in the red zone.

The thing with LT, was that even though he wasn't a power back, he had a nose for the endzone unlike any other back. He always just seemed to find a way in, and didn't really need power. He didn't really have that last year, and he's not likely to ever get it back.

But his career goes to show that you can be successful in short yardage, even if you aren't a power back. Power isn't everything. It's just one way to get from A to B.

He was never right again after being hurt. I think he sucess came in the OL and the fact he is small and could hide behind the line. That only works if you have an OL that can open it up a bit, or have the speed to make the corner. His speed isnt there anymore and I didnt see to much of the Jets OL opening up holes. Plus, just like D1 ball, the nfl is going to faster corners and making that corner is alot harder than it used to be. So what I am saying is, unless the Jets OL improves greatly, they will have to go with a back that can put the pads down.
(this is all just opinion from what I have seen. I am a D1 fan, not a nfl fan. I only watch to see how well our guys do at the next level)

I agree about the OL. His last year or two in San Diego, the line was pretty shaky, and couldn't give him even slivers of daylight with any consistency. Last year, the line in NY gave him a little space to run through, and he had a solid year, though not like in his prime (because he has lost a step or two).
