I knew how much of a stud he was before the game then he put on that performance.

So many times I thought we had him pinned in for a loss or a short gain but then got 6 or 7 yards. He played every down like it was the last play of the game. What a freak and what a freaking effort.

Greatest individual performance ever in Kinnick.

And he's all class. Props to him. Hope he wins the Heisman.

When you try and contain and the back is strong and can accelerate a career day happens. Hawks give up a number of career days.... He is really good. Strategy made him look better. Hawks have studs on D. We played a gimmick defense.

Two reasons for Barkley's performance:
(1) Iowa's lack of athleticism in their defensive schemes caused by their
(2) lack of athleticism on defense

And vice versa.

Josey Jewell did what he could, played his heart out, but SB is just a straight up freak. The Iowa D did their part as far as I am concerned.

How many yards did Iowa's defense give up and how long did it take for Pedo State to drive for the winning score?

If you are going to get caught up in the 573 yds Iowa gave up then there is nothing I can say. The Iowa D kept that game close.

Its a stat you cant ignore. It was a career day for him. I feel bad for several Iowa players who are really good but play on a team with a gimmicky strategy. Iowa had the better team (slightly) but acted like a team that only could win gimmickly.

You are right...geez...perfect post. Barkley has never had big days against anyone with great athletes (USC / Wisconsin / OSU). He's a once in a lifetime back. At 230, running 4.3 with an incredible football IQ...and Wadley-like cuts...you just can't contain something like that. The problem last night is that they ran 100 plays on offense or something like that. Hence the yardage you morons. Our offense was the problem for 3 quarters...not athletes on defense. They had 15 points with 2.40 left in the game. Last time I remember that was the key stat for winning games.

Offense was by far the bigger issue in this game. Going 3 and out and shanking punts left and right all night hurt us way more than the D. I wasn't surprised at the first half of the game as much as I was the 2nd. I felt that they were going to just open a can on us in the 2nd half once our D was wore out. But man they didn't. Not even close. It felt that way but they were never up 2 scores on us. If the offense could have actually mustered together a 4 plus min possession a couple of times maybe the D could have held up at the very end. But that said it came down to one play... That could have gone either way. I thought they were going to go to their tall TE but credit them they called a nice quick play over the middle right into traffic right on the money. QB made the throw. I tip my cap to them.

I haven't seen that good of a running back in college since Barry Sanders. Akrum is good. Barkley is phenomenal. You can cap on Iowa's defense, but then you might as well cap on every other defense in the country, because he does the same thing to everyone else.

Gimmicky. If you keep typing it, it will make it no less accurate.

Overconservative, sure. Predictable, still too often, yep. But it's the opposite of gimmicky.

Yards between 20's, tough to score. It may be old school, possibly outdated, but it's not gimmicky.

You say weird stuff sometimes.

Honestly give the guy some credit. Barkley is good because Barkley is one of the best playing the sport right now, not because he's playing shit teams. I really thought we'd hold him to a good amount less last night, and he proved me wrong. That's not because Iowa's defense is awful, that's because Saquon Barkey is an incredible football player.

If anything that's on the offense my friend, PSU ran 100 plays. What the hell do you expect when you have a Heisman contender that may well be the best RB this decade? I'll tell you what I expect, a higher score than 14 with 7 seconds left in the 4th quarter.

How is it gimmicky? Shit, if you can give up nearly 600 yards of total offense and hold that team to three touchdowns with a less athletic defense, that's pretty damn impressive.

It's even better than almost 600 yards and 3 touchdowns. PSU only had 2 touchdowns with the 2nd one coming on the final of their 99 plays.
