Sagarin conference ratings based on end of 2009

Mesaclone is starting to remind me of tiggerhawk.

Speaking of, has tiggerhawk turned up for his several helpings of crow yet? Anybody check the rocks below the cliffs?

The only thing you posting these rankings prove is that 1) you spend more time on this site then any ISU site
2) There is someone out there that is less informed/more delusional than you if they honestly believe the Big East is the 2nd best conference in football

So, I guess the new Big 12 IS a top 3 football conference.

81.07 SEC
76.97 Big East
76.23 New Big-12
75.97 New Big-10

75.90 ACC
75.54 Old Big-12 Total
75.45 Pac-10
74.49 Old Big-10 Total

From our resident statistician at ISU confidential (Cygarin). The data is direct from the computer Sagarin ratings. BTW, the point isn't that the computer numbers are perfect, but they DO make it clear that the Big 12, Big 10, and even the Big East are all in close proximity in terms of football product on the field.

First of all, most people judge the strength of a conference by how good the top 1/2 of the teams are, I mean, who really cares if the Big 10's two worst teams are better or worse than the the Big XII worst two (hate to tell you but ISU is one of those two). These ratings give equal weight to the top team and the bottom team. Lets compare the top of the conference and see where everybody ranks.

I do find it funny that the big XII's ratings went up and the big 10's went up, apparently Colorado sucks more than Nebraska is good.

That is super for 2010...lets see how they look in 2010 since that is what year we are currently in.

Although I do find it funny that clone-fan throws those numbers up there while their team is a reason why it is not higher.

Actually, we need to wait until 2011 as that is when Nebraska will be playing real talent in the Big Ten, and not the LiL12... Playing ISU definitely knocks Nebraska's rating down somewhat...

Boy you're going DEEP to prove that your "conference" is on pace......without Texas, you could drop about 20 pts. Sad thing is that ISU is actually bringing that number down. Drop ISU and your pts would skyrocket.

BTW...there's NO WAY those numbers are correct. How can the Big 10 with Nebby still be below a Big 12 without them......that right there is a big OFF.

Polls are polls. Sagarin is no different than any other. My guess is that many of you follow the polls quite closely...including the pre-season polls. If you find such early season polls to be of minimal value...great. If you find them interesting, well, I just gave you one to take a look at.

As for where the data comes from...Cygarin, a poster on the ISU confidential board, is a statistician, and a good one. He puts a lot of this sort of thing together on a wide variety of topics. Its good stuff as long as you don't take it too seriously.

And whoever said above that the top 4 conferences are roughly equal...hit it dead on.

And once again Mesa how is this even possible to do when there is no data to support Colorado playing in the Pac 10 and Nebraska in the Big 10?

You can't just take the conference games they played in the Big 12 and assume they would have had the same record in different conferences to come up with this, you need actual data.

Uh, whatever. In any event, ISU has never had a play like Clayborn's blocked punt & TD in front of a national audience in prime time, and they never will.

Werent you guys screaming trying to get out of the big 12 last week. Now there gods gift to football. I think im pretty much done consulting with isu fans. If they cant see the nose on there face, then whats the point of trying to show them the light of day.

I like Nebraska fan already. :)
