Too bad there have been no threads/posts on Iowa’s victory over Nebraska.

A few comments:

Watched the whole game. Carefully.
The D was solid. Held leading BT scorer to no impact. Thanks, Josh! And our zone!
Our O was a well oiled machine, both in transition and even better than usual in the half court!
Ladji and Brauns were impressive. If Fran could have gotten ahold of Brauns two years ago, it may have been a really big deal!
Ratio of assists to points was incredible. Back Cuts made by Josh, Payton, Brody, Thelwell, and our 5’s, wow!
Payton adjusted his game, went to the hoop and hit a couple of three’s as icing on the cake at the right time.
Payton rebounded well as usual.
Pryce kept us in the game with three’s and attacks to the rim.
Anybody who doesn’t think Brody is a potentially top shelf point guard needs to adjust their eye sight.
Drew was, well, Drew. Got to love that guy. Key threes and assists. Good D.
Take a look at our bench points! Wow. Beat up on Nebbie there for sure.

Since I am an old guy, one of the real highlights of the game was when a senior Husker fouled out after a fine performance. Iowa players showered him with hugs on his way to the bench as he reacted with tears.
Was all over the internet. Good press for the Hawks.

Sorry some of you missed a really good game. Next up in the BT are Ohio State and Illinois. Of course we will not be favored, but I firmly believe we are capable of beating either of them.

There you go.

Love your optimism, Huck!
The Huskers gotta be in shock.

A 16-15, soon to be 16-16, team should never be praised. What did we actually achieve today beating another mediocre team battling it out for the last team to make the B1G tournament?

There’s talent on this team. There is decent length in the 2-4 positions and regardless of losing whoever was our “center” mid-season we were still a team that never consistently played D.

This coaching staff doesn’t emphasize D, never has and never will. You can go back through every season under Fran and you will not find a single team that excelled at D. Ever.

They seem like good kids who play hard. They've stayed together. And they won't quit on their coach.

I think there is something admiral about the struggle in sports. This team has faced its struggles but keep coming. They've shown some resilience through their effort and attitude. They are still standing together after a disappointing season. I can get behind that.

Very politely, 12345, eat shit.

As a long time hawkeye fan and leave in nebraska it was a great win.
Nice try Fred but our team was just better TODAY. Momentum for INDY.
LETS GO HAWKS ...

If we play this hard against Ohio State we can beat them

I caught the last 5 minutes of the game. Nice to get a win and finish the conference play at .500 given what has transpired. This empathy Iowa players showed to Nebraska's Gary when he fouled out was first class sportsmanship. Many Iowa players had played against him multiple times over the past three years. In today's world it was an example many athletes should follow.

There is no point now to rehashing the strength and weaknesses of the team. The members of the team probably know better than all of us why they struggled.

Watching those Husker fans file out of the stadium with sadness in their eyes brought great joy to my heart.

Its been a rough season, but these young men and their coaches have never quit.

Is Hoiberg on the hot seat? It seems like he ought to be.

I was impressed with that Nebraska crowd. Playing to just make the BTT and they sell out. Why can't we do that in CHA?

Well, most of us, including me, thought we'd be sitting at 15-16 today not 16-15.

Kudos to the Hawks on all fronts.

I'm sure they'll go to Indy thinking they can get the Buckeyes.

And I hope they do.

Go Hawks

It woulda been really easy to quit. Extremely easy at different points this yr for them to. I haven't seen anything of that sort in any of them. That says a ton about the players involved. It just sucks that they aren't quite good enough. Losing a top end starter like Freeman was back breaking.

Dembele as hard as he tries just isn't a very good developed basketball player yet. Trayore is just a soph coming from a pretty small school he's had a lot to adjust to. I think they've improved some as the yr has gone on they've both had their moments. It's been tough for them to be consistent. They'd have every reason to be frustrated as could be with their PT and everything involved but I've not heard one sniff of them or anyone being a malcontent.

I've criticized Fran for all the obvious things much of the yr. But ya gotta give him the credit he's due too. The player friendly coach he is has them with a culture that is extremely rare if you look around college hoops. Players that have left haven't bashed him for anything have they? Guys like say Bowen, Perkins, Ulis or Moss who left I don't think did due to them feeling like they were jilted or not given a fair shot. They had other reasons that weren't even Fran related so much. And everyone on all sides handled it maturely and that says something.

I am checked out on this team. Did I watch it? Yes, on delay and after a band practice and ONLY because someone told me we won. I don't think it's fair to call out fans who are disgruntled and checked out on a program that hasn't been competitive enough to make the dance 2 seasons in a row. I am not going to just blindly follow this program. Iowa has a lot of work to do to bring me back to where I am invested in it past turning it on my TV. PS, I also went to 3 games this year, which were all all 3+ hour drives for me. I've invested and donated enough of my time to this program and team and no one is going to make me feel bad for not supporting it enough.

Very well done, Hawkfnntn

I don't think so. Nebraska knows that they are a shit basketball school and they believe Fred is the answer. He just needs time. He is doing no worse than anyone else they have tried. I also think there is a belief that Fred may hit a hot streak with some recruits and things fall into place like they did in Lames.

As for the crowd, I will not bag on Nebraska fans for their support. They show up no matter how dog shit the product on the court. They were a lock for the tourney just two weeks ago and imploded. Laughing. That all said, and this goes to a separate debate on this board, they have a new and awesomely located arena that is an easy sell to the kids and adults to attend. They have that. We have Carver. So.....

It was painful to see a sold out crowd.
Again, they have a great, downtown arena and games are fun to attend. These things build on themselves. If you think a game will be half full and sleepy, the average fan may just decide not to go. If the environment will be loud, full, and exciting, that's worth the drive to have some fun for the average fan.

Iowa has to reimagine its MBB program from top to bottom.
