that all of the top Basketball talent leaves the state of Iowa.. Not one school in Iowa can keep Paige. Barnes, etc in state.. Pathetic... this has been going on for YEARS.. Hinrich, LaFrentz, Collison

at least the football kids stay for the most part..
 
This is stupid. Complaining that is. We expect players to leave their home state and spurn their home state schools all the time to come to Iowa for football. We argue that Iowa is a better program and will get them farther. Well, pretty much all programs (NC, Duke, and Kansas) are way better than Iowa right now. Why would we expect them to stay. This is pretty double standard in my eyes. Maybe someday Iowa will be a solid program and it will be more of a surprise, but right now I'm more surprised when kids stay in state.

I don't think he's saying it's pathetic of the kids to leave, rather it's pathetic that ISU and Iowa haven't been able to pull any of these huge recruits who are right in their backyard. All these kids are potentially program changers and Iowa and ISU have let them all get away to Roy Williams.

I'm sure both programs didn't try, and once RW came a callin' I'm sure they just gave up. It's not right to blame the programs. They don't have the right stuff to offer yet. Big key is yet. If either program can be good consistently, then it will change, but until that happens don't expect a lot of different results in those program changers.

It hasn't been happening for years. It is a new fad over the past 5 years. Hinrich was going to ISU until Floyd left and Collison was going to Iowa until he Mr. Davis was asked to leave. LaFrentz was the only big time recruit who left for a long time.

Now a days kids take the easy way out of going to Carolina or Duke because it is easier to win there, they don't want to rebuild something.

Please don't tell me that they can be part of something "special" at Duke, Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky etc..... It isn't special to win a title at those places they are suppose to. If you went to an Iowa, Minny, Illinois, ISU, etc.... and win there that would be something special. You would be remembered forever.

I grew up a Hawk fan and if I would have had the ability I would have gone to Iowa no matter what. I would not have cared who the coach was or how bad the team was. I understand kids do not grow up with that attitude now. I think Hawk fans should appreciate Matt Gatens for being a Hawk.

Roy Williams should get a speeding ticket every time he drives through Iowa. It's still the same guy raiding the Iowa basketball cupboard. :mad:
