S-E-C commish suggests BCS should consider dropping 2-team-per-conference limit

If we/Big had to pick up two teams.... I think one of them for me would be Notre Dame. THey already play Meeeechigan, Mich State, they are right here in the midwest, etc,. Could you imagine the histories of Michgan, Ohio State, Nebraska, and then Notre Dame. Throw in Wisky, us, thats a good conference. I know there are a lot of people that dont like them, but adding Notre Dame to the Big gives us big time history as a conference. Bring on the SEC. Discuss....

There has been talk of adding another BCS game, possibly the Cotton Bowl. If this happens the BCS really needs to consider taking off the 2 team limit anyway or we are going to see some crappy teams playing in these games.

I am all for it, I think it helps the Big Ten as much as the SEC.

The talk down here in SEC country is that expansion to Superconferences is a foregone conclusion.

It seems to have petered out a bit. The SEC obviously needs to find another team, but they'll probably have to expand to somewhere in Kenya to find a team that's fast enough for that conference.

I think Missouri is looking forward to an invitation to the Missouri Valley Conference, but I'm sure that'll fall through, too.

If the SEC wants to perpetuate the experiment that is super conferences that is fine. However, I wonder if expansion was predicated on the idea that it would result in more invites to championship football.

I would expect the SEC to propose this for their conference, but I would love for it to be denied and see their own teams shot in the foot. It is this uncertainty why I wouldn't want to see the Big 10 expand past twelve teams. Further expansion would not do any favors for Iowa football.

Jim Delany was on record quite some time ago in favor of 3 BCS spots for one conference.
Just as now, the B1G & SEC will benefit from this the most, in fact I'd say they'd be the only two conferences that would.

I think WVU gets in, eventually ... who else are they going to take if not Missouri?

WVU has more fans than Louisville or Cincinnati.
ACC schools are unlikely to jump ship with the new $20M barrier.
East Carolina? Memphis? La Tech? Tulane? Houston? TCU?
all of them < WVU

I agree with all of the above

Radio guys down here are kind of silly. But they don't talk about if, but when. The teams they talk about mostly? FSU, UNC, Missou.

Mizzou makes the most sense, and I could not care less if they go. I do not see it hurting the Big Ten or Iowa.

As for BCS games, you know if they go to 3 teams /league,that the SEC will be guaranteed 3 BCS bids every single year. The Big Ten will occasionally get 3. When Iowa wins the Legends this year at 9-3 (6-2),and then loses in the Title game to finish 9-4,will they get a BCS bid? Doubt it. Will Nebraska at 9-3(5-3)? Maybe.

I see no reason for the Big Ten to expand beyond 12...none. No amount of stampeding by the media or the SEC should push the Big Ten to reduce their payouts to each school just to add some non-contributing schools. That would be dumb, unless the media or SEC will contribute to the Big Ten to make it up.

The BCS contract expires in 2014 and in my estimation that will be the end of the BCS because the conferences will not be able to agree. Four conferences will then form a new partnership, ACC, SEC, B1G and PAC. The SEC and ACC will play each other in the Orange Bowl. The B1G and PAC will play each other in the Rose Bowl. The two winners will play each other in the Big Foursome Bowl. The Sugar Bowl will maintain its alliance with the SEC and use the runner up to play and at large team. The Fiesta Bowl will maintain a relationship with the Big 12 who will play an at large team. Depending on who wins the games in the playoff a big foursome conference could get an automatic bid, a championship game, and an at-large bid.
