Rutgers ??

Can somebody remind why we invited these guys into the conference?

Why indeed. The idea that New York is suddenly going to become a college football town in bull. The Michigan, Ohio St, Penn St etc fans living there already watch the games.

Maybe selling the Big Ten Network into more cable/satellite packages is worth some money...but I still don't see it. Nobody is going to watch a crappy program like Ratgers.

Lets reascend the invitation and invite North Carolina. The football program is fine upstanding pro....wait no, well they have great basketball tradition, so that would be better than Rutgers.

Rutgers got a ton of early commits after the news of joining the Big Ten broke....mainly NJ players. Well, those players are now getting recruited by other Big Ten schools where the fan bases are larger, and the teams are more successful. Plus, Rutgers has had some deflating losses of late. Their facilities do not hold a candle to other Big Ten schools....lot of tradition of NJ preps coming to Iowa and Wisky. As for Rutgers joining the league, I think it will prove to be a very good move over time. Between BTN/MSG/Fox....Fox owns 50% of these media companies and will be able to leverage that into a strong cable presence in NYC/NJ...largest TV market in the country. Philly also. There are still 600k rutgers college football fans in NYC alone, and that drives cash to the BTN and Iowa. Good for us, good for them.

Can Delaney and the B1G pull their offer to Rutgers and replace them with somebody like Louisville or Cincinnati?

I do not get this sentiment about Rutgers. Louisville? Cinncy?....really? Louisville is a glorified juco...sure they have competitive sports teams, but they offer nothing on the academic side, or CIC or TV's ...nada. Same with Cinncy. Rutgers has a better academic rating than Iowa and half the Big Ten, with lots of research grant action. Same with Cinncy....I believe the Big Ten has Ohio locked up already....and we want to give a 1/14 share to these schools when they would barely increase our BTN payout? Nah.

When we add Rutgers and Terrapin U, we add states with so many high school recruits. It will narrow the gap between the B1G and the SEC, and we won't lose any more games to teams from Florida.
