Rutgers postgame

Yeah, tell me he's checked out. This is a undermanned team that is trying its collective asses off. I'm so happy for them that they get paid back with a W tonight.

Fran seems to have Pickiell and Mike Woodson figured out, for whatever that's worth.

Something he did or said at halftime clicked. Iowa was actually the aggressor on both ends of the floor down the stretch.

Granted I don't think Rutgers is all that good this yr. They have a couple stud freshman but that's about it. They got hot for awhile but couldn't sustain it and Hawks just wanted it more. We out rebounded them for peats sake. How many times have we out rebounded anyone all yr let alone on the road? Doing that along with making FTs and shooting 50% from the field will win you road games in this league. If you play just a little bit of defense anyway and tonight in the 2nd half they did that.

Happy for the players those dudes have had a rough month or so. They deserved to have a happy locker room after that one and flight home. Fran too. I know I've been amongst the he's checked out crowd. I meant that from the overall picture perspective. He's never lost the locker room or players it doesn't seem like. Hell he's been landing some stud recruits so you can't do that while being totally 'checked out' either.

Big picture this game doesn't change anything to me. But I'm happy the fellas got a W.

Good stuff.

Good to see that the boys are still scrapping and fighting. We will see if it is a turning point or aberration soon enough. This has been a damn tough year on the injury front and we were basically down 2 starters and a rotational player and still fought through. I don't think this team has the juice to do much down the stretch, unless Josh Dix decides to take over this team and play with reckless abandonment.

Fran has not checked out. He is a good coach who had a young bubble team to begin the season and has lost some key pieces to injury. Its hard to coach your way through a talent deficit in a good conference.

There are many reasons to part ways with Fran, but his performance on the court is not one of them, IMHO.

Fran just seems exhausted right now. I saw the interview after the game and liked the emotions he had. You could really tell it's been a trying season on him and is probably going through a lot right now with his family and his desire to continue coaching at Iowa. It will be a very interesting offseason for Iowa basketball. He either leaves after the season or he's going to be here a lot longer.

I have to admit I'd like to see him stay another year. I like the recruits that are coming in, what's returning and if they could get a good guard, maybe a true 5 out of the portal they have potential.

I'd hate to see the team break up because he leaves.
