Rutgers Has A Problem

Other than creating a footprint on the east coast that may have made it easier for Big Ten schools to poach players from, Rutgers has been a colossal bust.

In other Rutgers-related stuff...I found this one a real head-scratcher...and further insult to Minnesota. Jerry Kill taking the OC job at Rutgers?

He stepped down at Minnesota because of his health. Just over a year later he wants to try and fix one of the worst offenses in college football at a school that's badly overmatched in its conference...and live in...NEW JERSEY? (can you say fish out of water)

Doesn't sound like a way to avoid stress. My guess is there was more to his resignation than his health.

Rumor at the time was that he bought the last Dilly Bar at the bookstore and didn't call Claeys first. You just don't do that without asking.

I agree 100% that theyre a bust but this should be a non-issue for Rutgers other than probably some recruiting/scholarship penalties. They already fired Flood and his whole staff last year, and 50 extra scholarships wouldn't help that hot mess of a program anyway.

Kill has actually been associate AD at Kansas State this year. One would think he would/could have stayed at Minnesota in whatever capacity he wanted. My guess is that the Minnesota athletic department didn't want ANY form of "risk" to his health, so they figured out a way to sever any/all ties to him.

Could be. With all the "stuff" going on around Gopher football, there's been more talk about his departure and that maybe it wasn't strictly health-related. Apparently he butted heads with some in the admin.

Would have to wonder what the discussions were with Rutgers.
Rutgers: "Are you sure you can handle coaching again.after your abrupt retirement at Minnesota? What about your health"
Kill: "Well, let me tell you the rest of the story".

Or, he could have said, "Dude, this is Rutgers. It's like coaching in high school!"

Is there anything worse then cheating and not only not winning but be terrible? Geesh. And as far as Kill goes I don't understand that at all either. I haven't kept up with his whole medical history but I'd sure hope that he is healthy if he's going to be doing any coaching again.

So the NCAA comes down hard on Rutgers but slaps the hand of those like Ohio St, Oklahoma, Alabama and Penn States of the world. Yea, I get it!!

And not only those teams but all the blue bloods in basketball like North Carolina not getting hit really hard yet on their amazing amount of education grade scamming.

I like what Chris Ash has been doing with this program and his Iowa roots and hard work will turn into positive results down the road.
