OBrien: this is like NFL free agency without the rules. They can do what they want as long as they contact our compliance office
whar wisco?
I don't expect Wisconsin to hang with OSU long term with Meyer recruiting like he is.
Wisconsin is just like Iowa. When they have a good/great QB they have a shot to compete for the conference. When they don't, they are a long way away for programs like OSU.
OBrien says he didnt know what schools were on campus, and "nor do I care. That's all I have to say about that."
He'll be successful at cheating (or walking as close to the cheating line as possible without going over), he'll be successful at being the biggest d0uchnozzle coach in the conference, he'll be successful at making Beilema look like a saint. And yes, I expect he'll ultimately be successful at W's and L's as well.....but I won't get all giddy about it like "Hawkfan"33 does!
OBrien saying a lot of discussions on team...some changes at PSU last six months reflected already in new era of PSU football, and some other changes wait and see on ept 1stthat was in response to question on if there will be a uniform change
I like that, every personal stamp he put on the policy the dimminish is the previous regime
I like O"Brien, sounds like a tough, no-nonsense kinda guy. I can't help but think had he been coach at Penn St...none of this crap would have happened.
He seems like a good guy, and he's going to make a lot of money from this, but unfortunately for him, he's probably going to get fired in 3-4 years right as they start to come out of the sanctions. Also, judging from his previous coaching stops, he's a pretty bad college coach.
Just ran into Erin Andrews. Not literally.
Just ran into Erin Andrews. Not literally.
If they fire him after 4 years, they will owe him $9.2M. His contract had a clause that said that if PSU received sanctions, he gets an automatic 4 year extension to 2020. Not that PSU couldn't pay that, but that's a heckuva lot of money to pay.
$10M will be just another drop in the bucket to the total cost of this scandal. Penn St will go hard after an elite coach to follow O'Brien. The program has underachieved since the late 90's but this is a top 10 job and if there weren't sanctions coming Penn St could have done a hell of a lot better than him.
Even after 4 years, it will be an additional 2 years before they can get up from 65 scholarship players to 85 scholarship players. I doubt any coach worth his salt is going to come into a situation where the team is still trying to get back to 85 scholarship players. But I could be wrong.
