Rudock/Beathard Kudos to Iowa's Recruiting?

Arm strength in a QB isn't the end all determiner. Brett Favre's first 7 years or so in the NFL with Green Bay, for example, were horrid yet Andy kept the faith...

CJ had the best arm strength of the 3 QBs. He was best fitting balls into little windows - little windows because our receivers aren't that great at getting separation. Little windows freaked KF out because that meant a greater chance of a pass being picked off. Then there were those who surmised CJ didn't know enough of the playbook to be a starter. The Pitt game last season proved this to be wrong.

I don't think the Indiana game is any indicator of a QB's ability - Jake's ability. Indiana routinely blows pass coverages leaving vast spaces between receivers and defenders. Most QBs put up Brett Farvian numbers against Indiana. The first thing I would do to correct Indiana if given the chance is shore up their pass defense. Heck, even Iowa's passive zone pass defense is better.

Successfully fitting balls into little windows launched Iowa's passing offense to greater heights. More so than running ability or escapability of the QB. CJ, more so than any of the other QBs has launched Iowa's passing offense to greater heights. CJ's passing effectiveness into little windows has opened the field up for all other aspects of Iowa's offense.
