Rudock and Michigan against Utah game thread

What would you say to Jake if he was your son?

Don't worry Jake. In this society everyone is a winner, everyone is special, and everyone gets a trophy or ribbon.....when you are in school. That said, you got to play for 2 major college teams and will get a quality education. You will do fine as long as keep studying hard and doing it the right way.

Not bad.

Come on guys. Jake's only human. How would you feel if you were in his position? Let's encourage Jake and wish the best for him. After all, isn't he just another member of the human race? We are all one. When you look into the eyes of another, you're looking into the eyes of yourself. Every sparkling jewel in Indra's Net reflects every other jewel.

Rudock's problem was that the Michigan receivers don't have enough speed...and they dont' adjust well to the ball when it's in flight. Jake was fine...his receivers just don't run fast enough. It was the same problem he had at Iowa.

All kidding aside...that was like watching a replay of last year.

I was hoping Jake had a decent game, have nothing against the kid. People have been pretty harsh on the guy. That said, Jake's performance tonight at the least consistent (with all his past performances) and was pretty vindicating for Iowa, KF, and staff as Michigan fans saw exactly what we saw the last few years at Iowa and I'm happy to not have to witness it again. Hoping better for CJB. I don't really get the hatred for JR though, some folks here talk about him like he knocked up their daughter and stole their car or something. All he did was play average football.

Things did look pretty similar with respect to Rudock last night and how he performed at Iowa. It was just the first game and Utah is a good team. I think things will be different over the rest of the season. Michigan has some very good receivers. Their line will get better. JR will need to be able to connect downfield in order for their run game to open up. The Michigan defense played very well. Peppers is a beast. Harbaugh said there were a lot of positives and did not throw JR under the bus (why would he). He just said, "welcome to football' in post game remarks.

I don't see any vindication of KF or final evidence that JR will not have a successful season at Michigan from this one game. It does seem to indicate that JR is what he is: a game manager with the ability to bounce back from adversity, but maybe not a great leader when the bullets are flying fast and furious. Will he be able to overcome his tendency to hurry things a bit when the action gets heavy? Only time will tell. Harbaugh should be good at developing JR over the next few games and things will be better. But will that be in Michigan's best interest for developing things for next year? These are Michigan concerns.

While it was interesting to watch Michigan last night and to see a former Hawk play and watch a stud Iowa HS guy perform, I am much more interested in 11 am Saturday and watching this year's version of Iowa football.

Good post.

I have nothing against Jake. I wanted him to do well for the Hawks. I never "hated" him although when he struggled last year I did want to see more of CJ.

Yes I think we all can agree that what we saw of Jake last night is the same thing we've been watching last two years. No since beating him up just shows what was needed for us to get better a change was needed. Hope he has a good year and hope we do also. I still believe that CJ has the talent to do some special things this year and next year.Go Hawks.

Maybe ruduck will blossom this year, but watching the first half was all I needed to remember what made me drink heavily after games last fall. Iowa has to be better just based on CJB being around the backfield.

If Jake was your son, or your lover, I think you'd have different advice for him. With all he's been through, I think this game was an opportunity to get the bugs out. I wouldn't be surprised if Ole' Ruddy improves every game from here on out.

Jake Rudock is a frickin quiter.. Now we all know that he sucks..It wasn't Davis or Ferentz that screwed poor Jake. I am glad he is gone so KF would not be tempted to put him back out there if CJ stubbed .

Stop me if this sounds familiar. The defense played well enough to win. No running game to speak of. Lots of throws to the TE. The qbs 3 turnovers and two missed deep chances being the difference in the game...

Kirk missed a HUGE game changing recruit in West Des Moines' Darbough at WR. That guy is a prototypical Mich WR who will be making $ in the NFL for years to come.

Thanks captain obvious. The reality of the situation was that Iowa never had a chance at Darboh. He had way better offers and Iowa wasn't a good team at the time. I couldn't blame the kid one bit.

I do like it when a guy snubs Iowa to go to a better program and said program sucks the whole time they're there.

Remember when we hired the wide receivers coach from Michigan? Everyone thought he would recruit some tall fast guys with hands who could leap like basketball players and box out with their bodies while turning and grab the ball in the air with one hand in the corner of the endzone before striking the Heisman pose?

Then we find out that without the Block M hat he can't do anything and couldn't recruit anyone and the guys he brought in were the same as the guys before who were slow and dropped the passes and ran lousy routes and then the guy left for Eastern Michigan just in time for their head coach to get fired after just a few years?
