Ruben Lile to transfer

Yeah, that really sucks about Lile. He was one of the guys I was excited about when he was recruited. His injury was a setback, but I thought he was going to fighting for Miller's spot this year.

I have no idea how good Lile is or would've become had he stayed, but player attrition is so difficult for Iowa to overcome. Let's hope these are the only transfers!!!

I'm not sure your "would be" 4th string QB and a potential safety candidate is too alarming on the attrition scale. Lile must know something we all don't as a guy that's been here a few years knows the drill by now. He either saw the writing on the wall as far as playing time, or didn't get along with the coaching staff. I'm going with the former...it's what makes the most sense. Lowdermilk isn't going anywhere, and Gair has supposedly really impressed the coaches. Throw Lomax in the safety mix too and you have three guys in front of you. You also have Law in there somewhere.

Once again speculation...but I believe this team has a solid upperclassman leadership base that is going to keep everyone moving in the right direction. Morris, Scherff, Weisman, and the other leaders have laid down a pretty solid footprint for hardwork and improvement. Not too many people were expecting a New Years Day bowl last year...kudos for that group in making the grade every day and accomplishing what they did. Now, it's time to take it one step further. We have the nucleus of proven players to do that.

Law and Lowdermilk are both Seniors this year, so I hope he didn't leave because of that. Gair yes, but the others shouldn't be a big concern for him I would hope.

Considering Iowa is currently 2-3 over limit on scholarships, I expect at least two more transfers or players to leave school for various reasons. It happens every Spring.

I am disappointed that Lile is leaving but he has to do what is best for him. I suspect the knee injury is a factor but hope he recovers if he wants to play elsewhere.
