RPI / Sagarin / Pomeroy for 2-18-2013

I love to look at different types of rankings but I am sorry. We should not be 29th in any sort of poll at the moment. Just like Minny should not have been 13th in any ranking.

Really? You don't think Iowa could hang with or beat every single one of these teams on a neutral court?

Others receiving votes: Saint Louis 58, Minnesota 52, Louisiana Tech 48, Illinois 46, Cincinnati 20, North Carolina State 20, Akron 16, Missouri 4, Middle Tennessee 3, Saint Mary's 2, Maryland 2, Creighton 1, Wichita State 1

You cant ignore who we have played and lost to. We lost to the worst team in the ACC by 16. And the ACC is not very good this year.

We lost to Wichita State by 12 on a neutral court. Sorry but our joke of a non conference schedule is going to cost us.

I think it is a joke to put more weight on games in November than games in Feb. We also had a great shot to win against the #1 team and the #4 team in the country. We beat a top 20 team in Wisky, and should have beaten them twice. We should have also swept Minn if it wasn't for a last second shot.

If we played Wichita State right now we beat them by 10. Same goes for VaTech. VaTech may suck now, but they also beat one of the 3 best teams in teh big12 back then too. Teams change.

So you have UNI as a lock then? Right now they could beat anyone in the country. Refs cost them a chance at beating Louisville Lost most of the tough games in their brutal non conference schedule and blew some early in there conference plus had one stolen from them by the refs. But they have won like 5 in a row with a favorable schedule ahead?

In the list you displayed they have beaten St Marys, Creighton, and Wichita.

But just like us they are not deserving of a bid.

I want us to get in but we blew too many games we should have won and it sucks

I know 1 game UNI played. That's about it.

I know this is all irrelevant since we are dealing with the NCAA and common sense need not apply. A team that starts 15-0 and then goes 6-10 in conference clearly deserves to go in over a team that starts 9-6 and goes 12-4 in a good conference since they won games around Thanksgiving.

It has also been the Committee's policy to look at injuries. I doubt Marble's injury will be considered since he only sat 1 game. I do feel very strongly we would have won against Michigan State if Marble had played. That Michigan State team is not the same team we will see tonight. They have come a long way. We also most likely could have picked up another win or 2 if not for the lingering effects of Marble's injury. Again...Marble only sat 1 game so it isn't likely to be discussed but it definitely impacted some of our close losses and could (probably should IMO) be a consideration.

Everyone can b!tch and moan all they want, but the fact is, if we beat Nebraska on Thursday, win our remaining home games against Purdue, Illinois and Nebraska, and give a good showing at Indiana, we will be in. Our RPI will be at about 57, we will have finished 7-3 in our last 10 with 2 of those wins against RPI Top 25 teams and of our 3 losses, 1 came in double overtime @ Wisconsin and the other on a last second 3 @ Minnesota, and we will have finished 6th in easily the toughest conference in America. At that point, I would put our resume up against any other bubble team in the country.

Absolutely.
