I attended the Drake Iowa State game. Drake blew the Clowns out of the gym. Drake has plenty of talent.
this was a good win by Iowa.
Boise St. will be another good test, and then we are in the Big Ten schedule.
We need Cartwright at 100%.....

RPI is pretty worthless this early in the year. IMO,it's not very accurate at the end either.
I watched the game- Drake sucked
Please see Ken Pom as it is a better indicator. It is still a bit early for Ken Pom to be great but it is better than RPI.

Drake is not a good team. They will not show up on any list as a a good win for NCAA hopeful teams this year.

FYI Drake is the 7th worst team in the MVC out of 10 according to Ken Pom.

what does that mean
is ISU lousy team that got lucky against Iowa
or does it mean Iowa got lucky against Drake
just don't try to say Drake is a lousy team
and because Ken Pom proves your point of view doesn't mean it is better than the RPI
also i have never heard of KenPom til this year nor have remember it being mentioned when the NCAA BB field is annouced

I don't try to correlate things like you have tried with the head to head stuff. It can be fun to look at but does not always tell you something. I would say all this says is Iowa, ISU and Drake are not very good. I would say of the three ISU has the most talent or at least the most talented player in Royce White but all teams are lacking.
Ken Pom is just a more stats based way to look at teams, it attempts to take out the bias/noise and best evaluate teams. The game is played by humans so crazy things can happen but when using advanced stats you are trying to evaluate teams as best you can before the ball goes in the air and humans play the game.
I guess I don't get offended by someone saying Iowa has not beaten a good team because they have not. I guess it can come down to what do you define as a good team.

Massey is a really good comparison ranking system, it takes a lot of rankings, takes out the high and low and then averages them out.
Drake is an average team, Iowa is an average team.
Things could change throughout the season, but when they played, neither were a terribly terrific team.

Iowa's best win was against Drake.
It's all on how you judge that team, personally (and statistically) I think they are an average team.
So you are correct, Iowa has yet to beat a good team.

ROAD and NEUTRAL games are very important for the RPI. Losing to a very good team on the road is sometimes better than beating a very bad team at home.
This is why neutral site tournaments are so important.
UNI was a top 10 RPI team when we played them because 1/2 of their first 10 games were on the road or on a neutral site. They also won 4 of them. (ISU, ODU, Rice and Providence)
