Roll Along Iowa- Conference Division Proposal

I have been blogging since last year about the Hawkeyes and just wrote about my proposal for how the Big Ten Conference should divide the conference.

Roll Along Iowa

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Go Hawks!

Your "Plains" division is much, much stronger than the "Lakes" currently. Also, with the success that Wisc., NW, Iowa, PSU, and NE have all had since 1993 (remember that's the date we're going back to), I really think you just handed the "Lakes" division to OSU. The only two teams have accomplished much since '93, and currently Mich. isn't there. Purdue has shown greatness, but faded. Illinois hasn't been good for years. Minnesota hasn't been relevant in decades. And MSU just can't seem to get over the hump, even though they've been beating "big brother" as of late.

I would say PSU goes "Lakes," Minn "Plains," at the least.

Illinois was just in the Rose bowl not too long ago, and Michigan will be back to the top 25 within 2-3 years. It is a very tough call though. Take PSU out and the Lakes will have 3 National Programs. As it stands now each division has 2.

"Iowa(Michigan State, Minnesota)".....why exactly would Michigan State be a protected rival rather than Wisconsin, or even Nebraska?

Penn State simply won't let itself be "jumped" across the country away from its natural rivals in the East (namely Ohio State).

Mesa-

Penn State is not really being "jumped" across the country. So they fly an extra 120 miles to Lincoln? Under my proposal they still get to play Ohio State as they are protected rivals with one another. I just think there is no way that they will separate Mich. and OSU and, in light of that, they will not add Penn State to that same division. That was my thinking.

Hawkfan-

Iowa is paired with Michigan State because the other rivalries listed first are the more traditional rivalries that are far more important than Iowa/Minn. I really developed that first name in the parentheses thinking that it would be an 8 game conference schedule.
