Rodney Coe.

I know that rivals has him as the number 6 running-back in this class, but I was on ESPN and they have him listed as an inside-linebacker. I'm not going to put a lot of stock into this but does this mean that he may be open to playing a different position in college?? I'm just curious.

Apprently visited Iowa this weekend and really enjoyed it. 6-3 230. Come to Iowa big fella. Coker-Coe combo sounds pretty brutal to me.

For years Nebraska loaded up on RB and LB...usually they could play each position...your best HS players are usually LB and RB's...so keep em coming :)

Agreed, the players listed as 'athletes' allow a great deal of flexibility that is always nice to have...in addition, Coe looks like an animal in his films.

I think most top "athletes" will have at least 2 or 3 positions they could play. Most have this versatility. It actually would be very odd with a top athlete to only be able to play one position.

Most coaches will find a fit where the team needs one. Now, learning to play secondary or even WR for a player who has never played those positions is a whole other dog. Quite difficult to learn. All the way to reading routes & the footwork of the DB's.

I think RB is his first choice. Have not ready alot about him but have seen few remarks that indicate he prefers RB.

I said this on the very first thread on Coe. He looked good as a back, but insane as a linebacker. The closing speed was nuts.

Too good an athlete/prospect to worry too much about where he ends up on the field. He needs to come to Iowa, mature a little bit and start being a dominate factor wherever he ends up on the field. His two most likely positions are spots are coaches are very good at developing so not much to mull over for him.

In this morning's Sporting News Today, there was a feature on him and how much he loves Zook and how some of his coaches played at Illinois. He mentioned that he likes them and he likes how Iowa and Nebraska run the pro-I set which features running backs. He talked about what a team would be getting at running back and it pretty much made it sound that he was only going to play running back in college.

I think a combo of him and Coker for the next 4 years would be a pretty deadly duo, and I think he would be a great linebacker. All I know is that if he goes to Illinios he's going to have a coaching change next year, and he's going to be very disappointed in how he is used. I can definitely understand the Nebby interest, though I'd hate to see him cross that border.
