Rivals vs 247 and Tj Bollers

What is everyone's preference between 247 and Rivals? I was just curious as well if one is typically better than the other for any given reason? I find myself looking at both and while Tj still has a ways to go with his recruiting I thought it was weird to see 247 with him choosing Nebraska 100% and Rivals having him choosing the Hawks 100%.
I had heard Tj's father played running back for Iowa and he lives right outside Iowa City so I see that connection but dont see the Nebraska connection.

The only thing you can glean from this is that it demonstrates that both Rivals and 24/7 are completely full of shit. The only way to really get a semblance of what a recruit is thinking (for those of us on message boards) is to follow interviews from media pertaining to schools he has offers from, and even then it's a crap shot at best.

So...what did we learn form actual interviews with the kid? Jack shit. Which is much more than Rivals or 24/7 know because they're covering several thousand kids. The only thing I use them for is to find out what schools have offered particular recruits.

Here's a gem of an example as to how close Rivals and 24/7 really pay attention to anyone not in the top 25 nationally.

That would be a shocker if he ended up at Nebraska. I could see Notre Dame or something like that, but Nebraska?? His Dad is a huge Hawk, but has said he will let his son make his own choice. If you listen to post game show on WMT600 AM, Trevor is on that. I still think he will be a Hawk. Play right there close to home. Stability in coaching. Sure Frost is likely to remain at Nebraska so Huskers do have that as long as they don't try to run him off too.

Iowa is deep at DE recruits, and having Logan Jones right ahead of him and Aaron Graves now in the mix would be a little daunting whereas at Nebraska he could obviously make a bigger splash. 2020 alone has one 4-star and three 3-star DE recruits.

DE recruits at Iowa could end up at about 5 other positions. I wouldn’t take too much stock in a guy seeing others in his class from the same position, especially when it looks like bollers could be a national recruit.

Pretty sure Jones will be a DT.

I guess what I was mainly getting at was that Iowa is miles deeper than Nebraska, and that has to play into his decision. I’m pretty sure frosty plays on that like any coach would. If we were trying to snag a guy from say, Oklahoma or wherever and he was a likely 2-3 year starter here but possibly buried under a couple guys there, Woods/Bell/Polasek/etc. wouldn’t be doing their jobs if they didn’t harp on that.

I have no idea what he’s thinking school-wise, just pointing out a factor in it.

However.....
Hasn't Nebraska been getting top 25 classes for years? Meaning higher star ranking recruits?
So technically they should be deeper.
Plus I will say it again, when you have an exodus of players (higher rated recruits that Scott and coaches have recruited) there is a problem.
Basically it goes like this.
We are going to put out 400 offers.
We are going to take high ranked recruits.
If a recruit doesn't pan out, not because of legal trouble or grades or character, but if he doesn't pan out on the field, we are going to ask him to leave and repeat the process.

Good point. I think Bollers plays some WR as well so he could end up being a nice TE if he indeed has the hands and can learn the playbook well which I suspect he could. I've heard he's a pretty smart dude.

That coupled with them NOT running off guys that ARE in trouble with the law SHOULD send up a bright red flag to recruits and their parents.

I would hope our staff is subtly dropping that hint for ANY kid we have offered that also has a Nebby offer.

For what little it may be worth, I did hear from a friend that lives in the same area as Bollers and has kids in the same school, that he is known to be a bit self-centered/arrogant. My acquaintance referred to him as a prima donna.

Would I still take him? Absolutely, but, it is a bit of a red flag when you consider that Iowa traditionally backs off those personality types.

Well his father sure does not come across that way. He is on twitter frequently and is a coach at CCA. Dad sure preaches hard work and continuous improvement and team.

I agree. His dad seems like a great guy.

Like I said, "For what it's worth..." You never know how much stock to put into these things, but, I did find it interesting, especially when you consider that small communities usually rally around their exceptional HS athletes.

Maybe he is, but hell, he’s 16 and a very big man on a very small campus at clear creek Amana. He’ll get humbled quickly at a big program. That stuff means very little, especially with a 4* guy.

Went to a CCA game about 3 or 4 years ago and Trevor was coaching. I was sitting on opposing side as I knew someone playing on opposing team. You could hear Trevor easily all the way on the opposite side of field. Always coaching. Seems like the kind of guy you would want your kid coached by.

That's cool, and, as Jonrn pointed out, he's 16. Hard to gauge personality at that age. His dad seems solid, though.

one person calls it arrogance while someone else calls it confidence and leadership skills. i say if the mom and dad are well grounded in hard work , playing by the rules, and being accountable then the son will be ok.

if he is a first or 2nd born son he might naturally be a little more aggressive and testosterone laden.
