RIP Roy Marble

At times like these the color of your jersey doesn't matter. Mourning with the rest of Iowa. May God comfort his family and friends.

Very classy. It's nice being able to put the petty rivalry aside and find some common ground.

Man, what a sad week for Hawkeye nation...RIP Roy. Never got to see you play for the Hawks but heard ALL of the stories about you growing up...Sure puts things in perspective...man could Iowa fans use some good news this week though...here's to hoping the Hawks bring home a W tomorrow! It's only a game, but it would be nice to hear something positive...between losing Tyler and Roy...seems this week has been all bad news.

I had the privilege to hang with Roy about a year and a half ago, just before he was diagnosed. What an interesting dude. Had some great stories and was so polite. Glad I got to meet one of my childhood hero's. RIP my man.

We at the U of I need to do better at honoring the greats who have built our programs to what they are now. Not just the athletes but all who are involved. Need to realize life on this earth is not guaranteed so let;s embrace what we have.

Yeah, that halftime thing they did with Roy last season was a friggin embarrassment.

He looked so frail and sick in recent photos. I prefer to remember this Roy Marble and the joy and excitement he brought to Iowa basketball.

Nice photo. Loved the teams he played on. His sophomore year with BJ and Eddie, I thought they were the best team in the country. What a week.
Roy was so quick with the ball. He would release the ball to dribble and he was so quick the refs would call him for traveling because he was moving before the ball hit the floor.

RIP Roy and Tyler

Cancer sucks.... My childhood revolved around him BJ and Horton... He and BJ can be attributed to why I'm a Hawkeye fan. Him losing his fight with cancer just sucks... I don't even know what to say. What a week....

Kinda leaves one feeling empty.

I did not realize George Raveling was getting inducted into the basketball HOF until yesterday. Completely off my radar wasn't even paying attention. I wonder if he acknowledges RM some how in his speech. I have no clue even if they stayed in touch over the years.

Man, this sucks. I knew it was coming, but it just sucks all the same.

Roy Marble, BJ Armstrong and Ed Horton were the face of Iowa basketball when I was growing up in the late 80's, and those teams they played on made me the Hawkeye fan I am today. No other way to put it. I loved watching those guys play.

I chose #23 for my church basketball jersey number back in the day - not because of Michael Jordan, but because of Roy Marble.

RIP Roy. You were a great Hawkeye - and always will be.

Some of my best memories of watching Iowa Basketball were with Roy Marble in uniform. Thanks for the memories and RIP.

I feel you..I was in awe of those three..I want to see a WATN on Horton btw..for some reason one play with Marble has always stuck with me..weird one..he went diving for a ball out of bounds I think..landed on a couple of attractive women..he got up with his game face but once he saw them it was like " How ya doin" wink wink..like I said..weird :)

how many people know that Roy Marble has a son on WDM Valley's football team? Caught first TD pass of the game this past Friday -
