Rieff and hid draft rating.

Is he really one of the top ten college football players going towards the draft? I pay attention to Oline play quite a bit. I really dont think he outplayed Z this year. He had his moments dont get me wrong but he made quite a few mistakes for being ranked that high.

Hopefully he proves me wrong but i just dont see Gallery/Bulaga top ten talent.

He has never done anything to show me he is a top ten pick. He is a decent lineman but I just don't get the love for him. Maybe thats why i'm not an O-Line expert.

I respectfully diagree. Z was our best lineman on the field at times.

On very rare occasions. Reiff was not completely dominant by any means, but he rarely, if ever, struggled. Sure, Reiff was beaten on occasion, but never repeatedly. Zus struggled mightily at times.

i wont regive him for his false start vs wisconsin down by the goal line in kinnick....had to settle for a FG, which meyer missed. and that i believe was the difference in the game.

That's the attitude... Hold on to that bitterness as long as possible.

And the very worst at times. he had quite a few blown assingments and made the worst penalties at the worst times. Z was not our best linemen. I put him at 3rd or even 4th behind Reiff, Gettis, and Ferentz sometimes.

Cuz I'm sure you were perfect when you were a 19 yr old kid. ;)

He is a 5th year senior, can't have those stupid mistakes (4th yr junior when that happened). he had multiple stupid penalties this year. Drive killers or ones that put us 2nd or 3rd and very long deep in our own territory.

With all due respect maybe this is why you and the OP are truck drivers and not NFL GM's.

Wait, are NFL GMs doing these mock drafts now? I thought they were uneducated "sportswriters" who probably haven't seen Reiff play in one game.

Reiff is probably Iowa's all around best lineman. Iowa has produced a lot of NFL lineman, so it is easy to project him into the first round, even if you haven't seen him play, or he isn't deserving. Lets see where he actually gets picked at.

It's not one guy that has Reiff rated highly...

it's pretty much every single person putting together mock drafts at this point. Make fun of Kiper all you want, but he generally has a good feel for which guys will get taken in the first round. Wes Bunting worked in NFL front offices for a time I believe, so yes, his opinion matters when it comes to evaluating people.

I guess I don't understand all the comments from Iowa fans that Reiff "wasn't that good" this year. What game or games were people watching? Yes, he was beaten on occasion, but very rarely and almost never in pass protection. If you have games on DVR, go back and look at how he's able to move and still get to his target, he almost never gets off balance or out of position in pass protection, etc. Just by the eyeball test, he has better feet than Bulaga, who was taken No. 24. Go back and look at the Insight Bowl last year when Aldon Smith from Missouri did nothing. Smith is now starting for the 49ers. A team can draft Reiff and put him at LT and be very happy with it.

Bulaga was beaten at times during his last season at Iowa too. In fact, he was flat out a better player during his SO year than his JR year because of that illness.

Yet people see his success in the NFL right now and forget that he caught some heat on this board too for going early. A lot of people thought he wasn't ready. He had a rough year last year until the last 2 weeks of the season & playoffs (gave up the 4th most sacks in the NFL but only started 11 games in 2010).

He wasn't any more ready than RR to go pro but still did, struggled for awhile, and is now on his way to a good career at RT.

One other thing to consider is the guard next to him. Tobin was terrible most of the year, and Scherff made freshman mistakes. he had to deal with that, and sometimes it made him look bad though it was the guard's fault. Gettis was pretty dang good this year and that should have helped Zus, though he made plenty of mistakes.

Also i urge you to go back and read gamefilms' reports. Much much better for Reiff than any other linemen.

I agree with sentiment rieff didn't appear like a top ten pick. I base this on one thing only and I think it's enough.

In 2003 when Iowa needed a yard or two, you knew where the play was going. Gallery would steamroll somebody...first down Iowa. That didn't happen this year with Rieff.

i think that had more to do with Tobin/Scherff than it did Reiff. JMHO

I agree that he is successful enough to start, but if you watch GB, when Rodgers is getting hit, its Bulagas guy doing the hitting more often than not. He still has some heavy feet, and it shows against the speed rushers.
