riddle me this

Illinois. I may be wrong, but I came to this conclusion this weekend when I was trying to figure out who would be the 1st team Big Ten West QB (if there was such a thing).

I'd say Illinois. They've put up points. Their last 4 games they are 3-1 and have scored 21 plus in all of them. I'll go out on a limb and say nobody else in the west has done that. Their passing game will test us. Hope we can rush the passer on them.

CFP committee released its third top 25 rankings of the season Tuesday night,

16. IOWA HAWKEYES (8-2)

Last week’s playoff ranking: No. 22
Iowa’s 22-0 win over Rutgers was an offensive explosion by the Hawkeyes’ standards as they racked up 402 yards of total offense in their first shutout victory of the season. It may not play the most attractive brand of football, but Iowa has a clear recipe for success as it stands at 8-2 on the year and is just
one win away from locking up a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game.

Might be the last time we see Cooper until the bowl game

He’s not going to risk generational money to play in a minor bowl game

Lindy did. If he is fully recovered, he strikes me as the type of kid who would want to play out his career for his teammates. But, I kinda doubt he will be fully healed in 6 weeks.

LaPorta came back a few weeks after a knee scope to play in the bowl game...to each their own.

Was Lachey set to be back by the bowl game? I know All is done. Just had not heard any updates on Luke. I can see Cooper wanting to play if possible, but I can also see the staff even advising him that it may not be in his best interest to play.

There's a lot we don't see or hear about as fans, but it seems very apparent that KF and his staff have team that love playing for him. This theme seems to be every season regardless of the team's wins and losses. That is something that often gets overlooked.

I could see KF sitting Cooper down and allowing him to decide (if healthy) but also discussing the pro's and con's of mortgaging his future on a single bowl game. I would love to see him play but understand if he chooses not to.

I also wonder if these types of things are taken into account by NFL GMs? I mean, if I was evaluating a kid and whether to draft him into my organization, I would take it well if a kid finished out his season via a bowl game. Team first kid. It might not be the wisest decision, but these are your brothers.

I get that kids these days are regularly sitting out bowls and parts of season due to injury or even not, and these kids still get drafted. Talent is talent. But, I bet a kid who sticks with his team through the whole season is taken into account when evaluating the hundreds of factors a GM must consider.

LaPorta wasn't a top 10 draft pick. Neither was linderbaum. The money is different
I have not seen a mock having Coop going Top 10. I think he is a first rounder for sure, but Top 10 seems like a stretch especially given that Top 10 picks are almost always penciled in as starters, and that would make Coop the first white cornerback to start in the NFL since Jason Seehorn over 20 years ago.

The reported injury mechanism (foot planted with a twist resulting in broken fibula) would almost certainly also be associated with a high ankle sprain. The bone could very well be healed by the bowl game, but he is gonna want to let that ankle heal completely. Probably done, but I guess we will see.

I am still curious about the scenario where they bring in a new OC who runs a run-heavy spread system, and they offer CDJ the starting QB spot next year. The NFL money will still be there after a year, but that would be his last chance to play QB. Not gonna happen, I know, but I bet that would be tempting to him.

The mock drafts I have seen have him in the 18-24 range. Comments are pretty universal they like his versatility in terms of playing corner and/or safety and obviously they like his punt return ability.
