Rick Brown: Hard to believe, but some Iowa 'fans' don't want an NCAA bid

Look, it's not that people don't want them in the tourney. It's the way they've gotten (hopefully) to the tourney this year that has left such a bad taste in fans' mouths after thirsting for so long. It would be akin to being super thirsty after a Bix 7 road race b/c there was no water to drink...and when you finally get to the water tent, the water had been peed in and some folks were washing their feet in the water. It would sustain life, get you rehydrated, but not really what you thought it was going to be. Being critical doesn't mean you are any less of a Hawk fan--no less so than those who fail to see anything wrong with the programs.
There are two types of people. Those that strive for perfection, knowing that it can never be achieved. And there are those that accept the fact that perfection can't be achieved and they don't try for it.
I'll bet these same people that suggest we blindly support whomever the coach is at Iowa, don't give the same support to the President in office that they didn't vote for. It's the usual kind of hypocrisy that everyone can see right through.
I guess you hate America if you don't support the President. And you aren't an Iowa fan if you don't think the coach is any good. Nonsense.

Why the heck did this story get written!?!? What a troll job by the Des Moines rag. It is a small portion of the fan base that is saying this. And why they think they need to say this is beyond me! Hopefully Lunardi (and the section committee) is just laughing at these idiots.

These idiots are prolly the same idiots who during football season were saying "is it bball season yet"?

A bunch of extra butthurt, if you ask me.

People writing angry stuff after a stupid loss to a bad team isn't really a good indication of anything.

Right. However, if you are wishing for them to miss the tournament you are not a fan of the Hawks.

Pretty simple.

It's not just a small portion, it's a small portion that's emotionally unstable after an event that would triggler emotional instability in crazy sports fan.

Saying "I don't want the team in the tournament" isn't the same thing as what you're saying. It's likely though, that anyone who has said that really means "this team doesn't deserve the tournament" or "if they get in they are just getting beat in the first round" and there's a lot of evidence to support both sentiments. It would be weird to not want your team in the tourny and I don't think there's a psycho out there who actually would think that.

Eggzactly!

If not young teenagers then it is from those that can only find balance through chemicals.

Many are simply stupid, ignorant idiots who get a kick out of agitating people. I always have wondered what these chumps are like in reality, probable just miserable losers without a friend in the World......

Speaking of simply stupid, went to the Silghtly Stoopid concert at the Val Air in DM with my son. It was cheap and really fun. Sat at a table by the stairs and watched the beautiful dolls running around having a good time listening to one of the best Reggae bands going.....

Took my mind ff the madness going on around here.....

I would like to see Iowa in the tournament...but don't really think this team "deserves" to be in the tournament.

It's the exact opposite of last year...last year's team deserved a bid...didn't get one...this year's team doesn't really deserve one...but will get one.

Perfect example of why we have such poor fans. Yes guys like Basabe and Marble, who have worked their ***** off for four years, don't "deserve" to play in the tournament.

Tom Kakert, publisher of Hawkeye Reports says:

On his website a day later, Kakert wrote, “It’s just a very strange situation to see a portion of a fan base that has been thirsting for a chance to participate in the greatest event in college basketball almost wishing their favorite team doesn’t make the NCAA Tournament.â€￾

In my opinion it is the greatest event in sports, trumping the Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup, Nascar, and so on. The best weekend in the year for me is the first week of the Tournament. Sixty Four Teams enter, Sixteen teams leave in four days, not unlike Thunderdome.....

Perhaps you're the poor fan? It's clear no one on here doesn't want Iowa to play in the tournament. You're acting like the Rag and taking a few anonymous tweets as the mindset of the whole body of fans. Those tweets, some of them anyways, probably aren't even from Iowa fans. Get a grip man and stop insulting the fans. Iowa has fantastic, loyal fans.

Some of these "fans" aren't actual fans. Others don't understand the big picture. This is the next step and even if we lose the 1st game it's important for the returning players to get a taste of the environment since the NCAA Tournament is going to be an annual event for Iowa moving forward...finally.
