Iowa needs to land a difference maker like Ulis with our roster to make us a contender for a Big Ten championship. We are missing those types of players that the other guys have. In basketball it can take just one.

Something else to consider is that Fran and company may need to take a page from Ferentz as other programs realize his ability to spot rough diamonds so they begin poaching recruits.

I've seen his tape and followed his recruitment. He's a mid-major guy all the way. What I have "against him" is that he seems to be utilizing gimmickry to inflate his status. I'm pretty sure his report of our offer is false; and I'm definitely sure that his announcement that he and Ulis are a package deal is nothing but carpetbagging.

Fran has coached and seen probably a fair amount of basketball in his time. If he offers a kid then I am going to guess the kid can ball. If the kid does not sign I am going to think the program is not a good fit for him so its probably good he is not signing.

I saw a couple of his games last winter,as Whitney Young is on meTV(channel 23) several times a year.
In the huge tilt vs Simeon, Reynolds hit the game winning shot. Now, he is clearly not as high a recruit as some others on WY(Okafor is #1 in the country,and Peak is top 50) but he is a smart player who can shoot it very well. I believe his father,James, played in college also. James now heads up a big investment fund and is very rich. Have seen him on CNBC occasionally. He was sitting with Mayor Emanual for the Simeon game.

I think Reynolds could be a solid player in college...not off the charts spectacular,but his shooting should translate. I am sure he is not at the top of Frans list.

THAT's who we're going to land instead of Reynolds! I've said it before and I'll say it again: Fran loves to play his cards close to the vest. Chances are we haven't even heard the names of half our class yet.

To be fair, Coach McCaffery really wanted Harris. Outside of that, we're still good.

Stop saying "we" as if you (Ryno) are with us (Hawk fans). I'm not getting the vibe that our routing interests or basketball IQ match up at all.
