Results of the Three Most Painful Losses of KF Era

Bad calls, no question, but there were some bad calls the other way as well. What sticks out to me most in that game is the conservative pack it in mentality. We drive all the way up the field and try to settle for a FG and overtime when we had the momentum on the drive to play for the win. The shovel pass was a terrible call too. There is a fair amount of play calling and clock management that fell squarely on our side in that game.

ROBBED I SAY!!!!

Supposedly the Arizona fans made the ASU fans seem like the welcome wagon.

They did. Tucson was unreal. Literally had people screaming in my face, pushing me, etc.........for no reason other than being an Iowa fan. Couldnt do anything because I was with 3 guys and outnumbered about 20-1. Only place I ever feared for my safety at a football game.

I know it did not get many votes, but I had to vote for the ASU loss.

I was at the game and I haven't felt that low too many times. The ASU fans were the most obnoxious, rude people I have ever encountered, and I still hate ASU to this day.

I too was there that stormy night in 2004. Even after the game, the taunting of some Hawk fans was not for the sensitive ears. I'm glad I passed out in the 3rd quarter and awoke in the final seconds as Walner Belleus returned a punt for a touchdown.

What is it about fans from the state of Arizona? Tuscon was hell also.

I can understand why Jon picked the OSU game, but the expectations dropped after it was known Stanzi was out and how JV did against NW. Had either Stanzi only been out the rest of the NW game but would be back against OSU, or if JV played against NW like he did against OSU I think that would have been top 3. But the way JV looked against NW showed no indication he could play with a team like OSU with only 1 week to prepare.

I agree. That is why I didn't pick it. Going into that game no one thought we had a chance with Stanzi out.

W. Michigan

I just assumed Iowa would beat a 4-7 MAC team at home. I can't remember who the Western Mich. QB was, but he just carved up the Iowa secondary.

Iowa would have probably lost to C. Michigan in the Motor City Bowl anyway so it was probably a blessing in disguise.

2002 ISU loss hurt the most. Was at that game, Kinnick was never so quiet after. Horrible feeling.

That got my vote as well. After Bank's second fumble and the ensuing Iowa collapse, I was so upset I turned off the game and went up to take a shower to calm down. The days after were just as annoying as all I heard about was McCarney's halftime speech, and I was hearing it from people dumb enough to believe stuff like that is what made the difference. (As opposed to Russel going out and Banks playing injured.)
