Reseating

I think us losers in the North End Zone need not worry, no one will want our seats so should be safe. :D I am curious why they are making some of the lower SE End Zone seats a $50 contribution now?

I noticed that, I guess they think there is demand to make a donation mandatory for those seats.

I am just really surprised the overall amounts did not go up as I thought one of the early mailings said the seats that currently had a $200, 400 or $600 donation would be increasing.

I think I have 188 points.

But the first and last time they did this online reseating I clicked on 4 seats together on one side of an aisle and saved my selection. And guess what when I got my seats they were in a different section closer to the goal line.

Not sure how that worked out but buyer beware.

I'm pretty close to this... 193 I think last time I checked. 22 years of season tickets + alum status + about $1000/yr

I can't remember but I think my date was March 10th. Anyone else around this date.

Our owners ticket renewal date is February 4th but I guess that is understandable considering the years and amount that they donate.

Our date is March 3rd and I think our points were around 183 or 185 season ticket holder for 4 years. Right now we are in 103 near tunnel not sure if we will get that good now. At least we will be able to watch the seats taken as the days pass when this all gets started.

March 11 here

Holy hell Austin. I sit right next to you. 103 Row 40

If you have season tickets then you should have something equivalent to where you are at now.

The worst case scenario is more people in the high seat donation areas opt to move to a section that has less donation and then people who pick late dont have seats in their donation amount price range, that would suck.

I had 4 seats at about the 42 yard line on the east side when they announced the first reseating and I could not justify donating $600 a seat. So like many people I had bought a lot of season tickets on an off from 1970 only to go from the 42 yard line to the goal line. But they are decent seats.

Yeah I don't blame you. I'd rather put the $600 donation towards purchasing some bball tickets or towards a bowl game or something. More important things I can "donate" to also. This year I could hardly give away games I couldn't use. Watching game at home in HD is becoming more tempting every year.

It's also bogus that you can't donate to other pieces of the university and get credit for football. With tuition moving up drastically bince the days I attended, I'd rather see at least some part of donations be able to help out kids with tuition or other academic endeavors, but nooooooo, we've gotta keep all that cash in GarBar's fiefdom.

Very good point. I also donate some to the College of Liberal Arts and College of Education but get no credit.

There are what, 60,000 season tickets sold, and if you average 3 seats per season ticket order you are talking about 20,000 buying season tickets. I would think it would be good overall to give these 20,000 people credit for donating to the university in other areas, the arts, engineering, the hospital, etc.

Your math and assumption isn't exactly accurate. I'd never donate to the College of Liberal Arts. When was the last time 70,000 people showed up to watch some kid take a quiz. Sheesh.

If they had good tailgating, it could happen. I wonder what football will look like in 30 years. If Iowa were ever to abandon the sport, I could see 70k showing up at Kinnick to tailgate and play quiz bowl with the questions presented on the jumbotron. Of course, we'll be at a disadvantage against ISU because their jumbotron is so much better than ours, but we'll make due.

Can't tell if serious Clark... But If all you care about is sports that is cool and up to you. 70,000 people don't show up to watch the lab coats do medical research either, but I bet those laying in bed at U of I Hospitals right now appreciate the modern medicine and facilities that have been spurred on by many a charitable donation over the years. Point is, just because 70,000 people pay to watch something doesn't mean it is a high priority in the grand scheme of things.

I think it's weird to ask for "Donations" from an organization that's for profit. If you need more money just raise the damn ticket prices.

Even if I had a hundred million dollars I wouldn't "Donate" anything to an organization that makes millions of dollars per year. I'd pay a lot for tickets, but I only donate to charity. This ain't charity. It's like donating to help out Bill Gates, of course on a much smaller level.

I don't get to pick until May. I guess that makes me a prole's Prole. Gross.

Same....the 13th to be exact.

I don't think too many people will be lining up to pick my two seats...which is great...I'm very happy with them.

It's a "donation" to perpetuate the ruse that the UI foundation is a non-profit and allow the donation to be tax deductible for the donor.
