Reports: QB Hank Brown Visiting Hawkeyes

I could be wrong but I think they are both on active rosters right now. CJB just got picked up by Jacksonville again after Trevor Lawernce went out with a season ending injury. I think CJB is 2nd string behind Mac Jones.
 
With all of these QBs and WRs in the portal I was hoping to hear that Iowa was in on more of them. Time will tell. I worry that Tim is fighting against Iowa's reputation.
 
Its hard to get too excited about this kid. He was a decent recruit out of high school, but probably about the caliber of player Iowa would normally get. His collegiate resume isn't much deeper than Lainez's. He does have a couple starts in the SEC, so that is something. This guy, while likely not the starter, could build some depth in the QB room and hopefully is a better fit for Lester's offense. This kid would be a building block, but not likely the answer at QB next year.

Of course he is. That said, the Blue Bloods can only collect so many QBs, so there will be decent prospects available, and Iowa is a Top 25ish school playing in one of the two major conferences. Any decent QB is going to think he is amazing and can succeed even at Iowa. QBs are not humble by nature. It is a High D1 opportunity. We will get at least one, if not two, portal QBs.
 
QB is a unique position in that only one guy can start. So, there are likely quite a few in the portal. I would guess our chances to get a competitor will be pretty good. Keep at it, Iowa.
 
I'm really hoping Sullivan can be the guy. He's shown he has cajones and the locker room likes him. You have to have that gel with players and staff. The problem with the portal stuff going on now is you're constantly having to go shopping and then you never end up witha 3 year guy if you're a school like Iowa. Since Petras left we've gone through more QBs than the Browns.

My guess is that we'll get more than 1 QB in the portal. If he's a junior, it sets up perfectly (other than the fact that we'll probably lose 2 of them to the portal) because we'll have guys with 1, 2, 3, and 4 years of eligibility. As we know, from here to eternity, a qb is just committing to the school he'll spend his first year or 2 before hitting the portal. I'm going to bet we'll be doing this a lot in the coming years.

Sounds like this Brown kid is in the bag tomorrow when he visits. So next question is will they go after another and who all else are we after. We have other needs yet to fill too and I haven't really heard any other rumors at all besides this one.
 
I really hope that Brown isn't the only transfer QB. That would leave Sullivan, Stratton and Brown to go along with the Freshmen coming in. With the way Sullivan lays his body on the line, it's going to come down to the other guys at some point. How we feeling about that with an inexperienced O-line?
