Remember When We Devised a Gameplan Against OSU Last Year?

Three tight end sets, raider package, deep throws to tight ends. We thought outside the box and showed some ingenuity. We caught mighty OSU off guard.

This can be done again against Wisconsin. They are not as good as OSU was. Let's devise a run blitz and a passing scheme that Wisco never expected. Let's utilize our speedy playmakers. Our coaching staff makes a combined $6 million per year to put an exciting product on the field for just 12-13 games each year. Let's see them earn their keep.

We lost to ISU and got trucked by Minnesota. I say we just play our second stringers and keep the starters healthy for the Nebraska game and try to get to 8 wins with that game coming off the short week.

We didn't use the raider package against OSU. That came the following week vs Northwestern.

And we've targeted TE's several times this year as part of the game plan (Maryland and Illinois comes to mind right off the bat).

I think its clear we need to rest up and get healthy for the Bowl Game at the end of December. If Gordon sets another record then it will be okay because it will have an asterisk next to it noting that Iowa played its walk-ons and third string defensive line and linebackers.

End of December!?! Isn't the Detroit bowl more towards the middle of December?

Hey I am in Detroit right now, 23 degrees, snow, I wouldnt wish it on anyone and I live in good old Iowa.

Oh yes, poor people in Detroit get their water turned off if they cant pay while the major sporting venues which owe millions in water bills keep theirs turned on. Nice place.

Patriots used an extra o-lineman plus a TE to attack the Colts last Sunday....Colts also play the 3-4 with blitzes...worked well as an unknown rb ran for 204 yards vs Colts.

Actually very interesting philosophy. I swear Greg Popovitch (Spurs coach) uses this throughout the season and post season also. Tanks some games knowing, in the long run, it can/will be beneficial.

The 3TE is something I wrote in my preview last night that is on the gameday page...I really think it would be good against the 3-4

I've brought that game up a ton of times on here, and to my friends. That was a near upset and it was the best I've seen Iowas offense since the stanzi days. Why that heavy tight end set, with downfield passes to them was abandoned is one of the great mysteries. Rudock has always seemed to pass deep better to them than his actual WR. I think about that offensive scheme every time iowa struggles especially against Maryland this year.

I fear that if things get ugly, GD will wig out and unconsciously go to his comfort zone.....that horizonal zone.
