Reiff up to #3 in McShay's mock draft

Are you thinking of that NHL jerk? Drafted by a small Canadian team, sat out a long time then finally ended up with Philly. Mid to late 90s? Was supposed to be a super duper star and turned into a minor star, IIRC.

Eric Lindros did do that, but I wasnt thinking of him.

Maybe I was just thinking of some abnormally long contract holdout. Didnt Crabtree threaten to sit out the entire season before finally signing with the 49ers?

Another suffering Viking fan here. I don't see how the Vikes don't trade out of the spot if Kalil isn't available. I think they could still get Reiff at about 7 or 8. I am hoping they can trade the pick for more than just a second rounder though. From what I have read the "ratings" for picks would give them a #7 or #8 and a later first round pick to be "even". Anything less than that and the Vikings are giving up value and we know they sure can't afford to do that!!!I think if Kalil is available they will take him. If he's gone and they can't make at least an "even" trade they might consider Reiff but I am more inclined to think Blackburn (sp) is the pick at three.I think Kiper's board is usually a bit closer than Todd's.At the end of the day though Reiff's draft status will depend immensly on the combine. I hope he does well and if so would love to see him anchor the left side of the line in Minnesota for a decade or more.
I want Blackmon if he's available.

I prefer to upgrade the line. Wide receivers are to much of a crap shoot.

Yes, hands of stone Crabtree did do that. And he was owrth every penny....

I can't remember exactly how that went down, didn't Jerry West do some Gasol "get over" type deal to get the pick to draft Kobe?
IIRC the swap included Vlade Divac, thats about all I can remember.

Got this from wikipedia.

The first guard to ever be taken out of high school, Bryant was chosen as the 13th overall draft pick by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996.[21] According to Arn Tellem, Bryant's agent at the time, Bryant playing for the Charlotte Hornets was "an impossibility".[22] However, Bill Branch, the Hornets' head scout at the time, said that the Hornets agreed to trade their draft selection to the Lakers before picking Bryant. The teams agreed to the trade the day before the draft and the Lakers did not tell the Hornets who to select until five minutes before the pick was made.[23] Branch said that prior to the trade agreement, the Hornets never even considered drafting Bryant. Prior to the draft, Bryant had worked out in Los Angeles, in which he scrimmaged against former Lakers players Larry Drew and Michael Cooper, and according to then-Laker manager Jerry West "marched over these people".[24] On July 1, 1996, West traded his starting center, Vlade Divac, to the Hornets in exchange for Bryant's draft rights.[25] Since he was still 17 at the time of the draft, his parents had to cosign his contract with the Lakers until he was able to sign his own when he turned 18 before the season began.[26]
