Reiff & Gettis - Risers at Combine

This is huge
after today most scouts feel he has all the skills to hold down left tackle.

After this draft, Iowa will add at least two more OL to the NFL..horrible break for Zus or it would probably have been three...I guess he could still get drafted. Iowa presently has eight OL in the NFL...Wiegmann probably retires this year...so that would be minus one, plus two for a total of nine OL in the NFL. This will mean Iowa will have had at least one OL selected in 8 of the last 10 NFL drafts.

Actually, the item in the article I liked best was about Josh Oglesby of Wisconsin. "Oglesby ... does not have the athleticism necessary to make an NFL roster. He struggled to run faster than 5.8 seconds in the 40 then lumbered around and looked heavy-footed during drills."

But his 3pt shooting will come around, no worries there and he looks quicker on the court than that 5.8 he ran...

Zusevics will be fine. He was a mid round projection before the injury. He may go undrafted, but some team might still take a late round flyer on him. His injury, if bad, may require surgery, then 3-4 months and he's back on the field.

Mike mayock has tweeted that Gettis is the biggest riser at the combine so far. Also said reiff is the most viable pick for the Vikings at number 3 now.

its much more than a four month recovery.

I cannot believe he said that when every other expert has stated that Kalil is in a class of his own at OT in this draft.

All this talk about Reiff's "short" arms. A lot that is probably smoke screen. Every year teams start rumors, and nit-pick about recruits they love to try to drive down their value so they can nab them.

Reiff, looks like he solidified his spot as the second best OL in the draft.

Much of what the combine is looking for reasons not to believe what you've seen on film is true. It's hard for me to see how Reiff is any less valuable with 33 1/4" arms than 34" arms. Look at the film, look at him in OL workouts and it's proof positive this kid will play a long-time in the NFL.

Real shame Zuc was injured. Thought he'd make some GM a "genius" in the 5th round. He may still.

Thought Nielsen and Mcnutt had solid combines. Typical Iowa players. Good but not outstanding in the physical tests. Excellent in interviews, and position drills. Should be an interesting Iowa pro day. Daniels will do his full-workout and a bunch of the other ones part of theirs for the first time. My expectations are that Mike nears or breaks an all-time Iowa bench press record there and runs a sub-4.9 40.

Bulaga had "short" arms also.

Edit: Bulaga and Reiff both measured at 33.25"

the short arm theory actually is true. in the pros the skill level and speed is higher (obvious). to get those speed rushers you need every inch you can get as a tackle. gallery was a great lt in college and bulaga and reiff didnt have the college careers that robert did yet he had short arms and everyone thought he could overcome it. yet he didnt. just look at how happy people were when rg3 measured taller than 6'2. outside of brees all the great qbs were taller than 6'2. sounds stupid but it is true.

I take no pleasure in Oglesby's poor performance...in fact, I wish him well. That said, I find it funny when the goofballs on here question why we don't have an o-line as big as Wisconsin's. Here's why. Big dudes are a dime-a-dozen. Big dudes that are athletic and have good technique start for a Kirk Ferentz team, and generally get a shot in the league.
