Reiff/Davis?

Scherff played LT much of the 4th and Davis obviously went out in the 4th w/ the ankle. Any news/updates post-game? Two huge blows, if they are nicked.

I'm still ****** Davis was even in the game at that point. Why was JVB in the game as well? Why can't Wienke hand the ball off to Canzeri or Johnson? Ferentz seemed ****** when Mike Hlas asked him about it after the game.

KF still has a hard time on knowing when to take guys out of the game. i don't get it either.

as an aside, it was the start of the downward spiral for Robinson last year. i honestly don't think he would have gotten into that situation (academic and weed) if he would have been with the team. i guess we'll never know on that one, just my thoughts.

Most rediculous post I've ever seen. you must be sharin the pipe with him.

are you really blaming that on the coaches? holy ****.

I swear people like to ***** about anything. Whether or not they should have been in the game in the fourth quarter or not (i believe they should have been) injuries happen anywhere and anytime. Both could have easily been hurt earlier in the game so to pin it on coaching is a joke. I think people look for any reason to complain about something. Not calling out the poster, but I just hate the thought of blaming a coach when a player gets injured.

Done ranting, but to get back on topic, I hope they're alright.

Iow doesn't have the depth to risk playing key starters when the game is out of reach. Why risk injury to Davis and Vandy when you don't have to?

Game out of reach starters in, yeah coach owns that one. Coach never has been good at getting meaningful snaps to backup players. Weinke got two snaps, give me a break.

Somebody wrote on here once that KF is the kind of guy who likes to keep playing with one toy until its broke.

Save your starters to play another day *and* build depth and experience at the same time - what a novel concept!

Of course the coaches are at fault for playing key players when the game is completely out of reach.

I swear to God some of you people have never even seen a football game before.

What I was commenting on was Big10Fan saying Adam Robinson wouldn't have been kicked off the team for drugs and school if Ferentz didn't keep him in the game to get injured.

What's a safe lead with our defense? Not arguing with you guys, but again injuries happen. NO coach says I'm going to leave the starters on the field in the hopes that a couple of them get injured. I'm again I totally understand what your saying but at the same time why is our starting defense on the field as well? Sorry that I don't agree with those out there that say that all injuries are on the coach. Maybe I should jump on that process and blame Kirk for Arob no longer being a Hawk, because we all know that his concussion was Kirk's fault and he was only smoking weed to help him recover from the concussion. Kirk's to blame.

I am a huge KF backer but I wondered why a lot of starters were in the 4th quarter. It seemed pointless and left us susceptible to injury. Also, if w really would like to develop a backup RB that can play meaningful snaps couldn't we have found some in the 2nd & 3rd Qtrs at least?

Couldn't agree more. IMO it's not a matter of sitting players late in the game necessarily, but more so giving backups a few reps periodically during the game to avoid excessive workloads put on players leading to fatigue and possible injury.

whoa, obviously touched a nerve here. i wasn't blaming kirk directly for ARob smoking weed. just that he wouldn't have been out and about that particular night if he would have been with the team, which i think was impacted quite a bit by the concussion and its after effects.

feel free to disagree, but try not to get so personal next time, thanks.

It's not so cut and dry when to remove players. The way the D way playing, IN had a chance to score 14-21 in a hurry. With almost a quarter left, anything can happen. It's much easier to coach when you're not in the moment.

This was discussed yesterday, also. It's definitely a tough call, but sometimes it does seem a bit more obvious.

I certainly don't think it's directly KF's fault A-Rob got into his downward spiral, but I know from firsthand experience that when players get hurt and get away from the team routine, bad things can happen. I played w/ a guy in college that got hurt, started hanging out w/ different people b/c he was away from routine team activities, and shortly thereafter I think he was using illegal substances and flunked out of school. Sad situation, truthfully.
