Reese Morgan deserves a huge raise

Keep him on the staff as long as possible. He took a d-line that was horrific last year and has them playing excellent against the run. the only one starting now who will get a whiff of the NFL is big Carl, but they are playing great. Reese goes from constantly developing NFL o-lineman, switches to the other side of the ball, and then completely turns around a unit that Kaz almost completely destroyed.

he's also a great man from what i hear and a solid recruiter too. give him as much $ as he wants, just don't let him retire.

I mostly agree, but think LTP might get a whiff of the NFL. High motor, maybe bump along in camps and practice squads for a couple years.

i guess we'll have to see what next year brings. Coach Morgan might be able to help him make the jump from solid player to dominant force like Klug was. kid def has a high motor and a knack for the position. not sure if his measurables will hold him down on that.

Either way, Morgan deserves huge props. And he gets it done with a calm demeanor that is an outlier in major college football.

LTP is more than just a solid player. He is the number one reason why we are good at stopping the run, and easily one of the best DL in the big ten. He's in line with Klug, King, Kroul, Ballard, Daniels and Babineaux as one of the better DTs we've had at Iowa under Ferentz.

i wouldn't go that far yet. those are NFL players you're talking about. i guess next year will tell if he has what it takes. go to twitter and ask hawkeyegamefilm what he thinks if LTP is as good as those guys. i'll take his word on it either way.

Reese Morgan is a helluva football coach and has succeeded wherever KF has put him. As Special Teams coach he was a savant; in 2002 we scored every possible way in the rule book. And I realize I am being presumptuous when I say he has been ill served by his boss considering his ability to adapt, learn and teach. We are fortunate to still have him.BF wants a job? Move Morgan, again.

It is said that Reese is an excellent teacher. I recall that KF has a strong bias toward coaches who are sound teachers.

he said the 1st requirement is that they are great teachers. probably great men first (a given). i.e. you just can't scream and yell to get a point home (unlike some of the morans would lead you to believe on this website).

I would say Davis is a bigger reason we have been so good against the run.

Davis is a freaking beast out there. Iowa is good when we have a d-lineman who legitimately requires a double to slow down and Davis is blossoming into that guy. It is not a coincidence that as he has improved our defense has become materially better.
