Red Zone D comparison: IOWA vs PENN STATE

Iowa is 2nd in the Big Ten in Red Zone D.
Penn State is 12th in the Big Ten in Red Zone D.

Opponents are 12-17 against Iowa inside the 20.
Opponents are 10-10 against Penn State inside the 20.

However, Iowa has given up 10 redzone TDs (3rd most in B1G) to Penn State's 6.

Red zone D should be based as a point per chance basis, not a scoring ratio basis.

I would prefer a defense that gives up 100% scoring that is all comprised of FGs versus a team that gives up 60% scoring but 90% of those scores are TDs.

By this method PSU is giving up 5.4 pts per chance, while Iowa is giving up 4.47 pts per chance.

Iowa = Bend but don't break
PSU = Breakable if Bent (note that rarely bent though)

I'm assuming that our 3 OTs against ISU count towards this. A little skewed considering an opponent is given the ball just outside the red zone to start a possession. Not to mention the fact that they scored 3 TDs in those 3 possessions.

This is a great point. Forgot about that.
