Recruiting is a grind and takes hard work

This topic is so complicated and there are so many factors within and out of the coaches control that it is almost pointless to debate. I do not think any of the coaches are lazy and I think for the most part they have a consistent message and are for the most part honest with the kids. I know last year we had some issues and that was taken care of, but historically I think it is pretty straight, professional, and honest. Iowa is not going to be a program like Fleck up north that is in your face and is a hard sell or with Hardbaugh doing sleep overs and other "creepy" things

I think the recent upgrades to facilities put us on par with the most of the country and in the upper part of the Big Ten Could Iowas become a huge recruiting powerhouse if the hire a big name coach? I do not know. The challenges will still be there and at the top of that list are winning. With KF winning the games they should has been the hard part. With Hayden it was winning the games they shouldn't. The atmosphere and competition at Kinnick is unbelievable and a great tool

I get the following recruiting thing if your a national power like Ohio State or Alabama because you have high expectations that are met on a regular basis. Maybe I am just an extremely busy person with managing a household and a family and highly demanding profession, but I find myself only mildly interested in recruiting and then it is only after a commitment is made.

I find it difficult to sit and be concerned about some high school kids whom most will end up signing with another school because there are more offers than scholarships. I do find that basketball recruiting is more interesting because the team is made up of a small group of recruits and signing just two really good recruits can completely change the dynamics of a basketball team.

The disinterest is especially true when your football team generally ends up with mediocre seasons year after year 8-4, 7-5, or 6-6. That whole thing changes however if you are recruiting two and three star recruits but are on a regular basis winning your divisional title like Wisconsin does. It peaks your interest to watch a great coach recruit these average athletes and then pull them together into a cohesive and highly successful unit. “Oh boy we are getting this three star recruit that is joining our football team and I just can’t wait to see if he blossoms and helps our team go 7-5 in a few years.”

I am not picking an argument here as if your a high school kid or a young adult with few responsibilities and are just looking for something to spend your extra time on then I understand that as I used to be that way myself growing up in Iowa.

I guess I would at this point expect a coach who is the dean (in terms of time and experience) in a major BCS conference at a school with top notch facilities and among one of the highest paid coaches in NCAA history, to be recruiting at a much higher level so people like myself would be more interested in following recruiting.

You know that for a fact?

You know that KF does not expect coordinators to recruit?

Sounds like a vulnerable statement to me.
I recall an interview where he said that he doesn't want his coordinators to recruit, they have enough to do already. Or something along those lines. This was years ago but I recall it because it really surprised me when he said it. That doesn't mean that they don't recruit, to some extent. Or get involved with certain player's recruitment. It was a strange statement, as far as I was concerned. Maybe Rob or Jon can fill you in on the details.

And there is a real possibility they could have been 11-1 had captain conservative let the offense open it up more. Just sayin.

We all want Iowa to be better. It is when people start making claims that average Iowa teams “should go 11-1” is when I shake my head.

Sadly KF has convinced a lot of the fan base that we can't expect any better.

Actually Fry and Ferentz have shown over nearly 40 years what to expect out of Iowa. Pretty much 8 wins a year, with 10+ win season every 3-5 years.

I dug out some old Iowa Media Guides from '05, '07 and '10, to see the coaches and their "recruiting territories". It listed O'Keefe as having Conneticut, Pennsylvania and Ohio, in each of those 3 years. It never listed any recruiting territories under Norm Parker. That doesn't prove or disprove my comment, obviously but that was the nearest I could come to getting the information, as a Google search produced nothing.

KF is cleaning up with this class coming in. Ranked 13th in the conference. 9th if going by points. Either one is unacceptable for a coach in his 19th year. Then people wonder why we can't execute on offense. The talent is simply lacking.

The negative KF agenda crowd are ruling the roost here this week. Iowa is gonna end up 8-4 not 4-8, give it a rest.

Dude, do you not remember the "negative" AFTER going 12-0. They thought they'd be vindicated after B1G CG, then cowered while the "pundits" gave Iowa props after almost winning. Then (of course), full force DURING the Rose Bowl.

Pennsylvania and Ohio for the OC. Definite "demotion", Ohio and Pennsylvania are definitely states you wouldn't to recruit very hard o_O

And does NObody remember why Norm may not have gone out on the recruiting trail? His son's situation and his own health.

Good Lord, if you're gonna use Google, learn how. Broaden the search terms. Maybe read the bios of the coaches you seek to impugn.

What coaches am I "impugning", moron? Just shut up if you can't comprehend what you are reading.

Points are accumulated by the number of kids signed. Iowa has 14, Rutgers for example has 19, Purdue 23, Indiana 19, Minnesota 23.

Our average ranking per recruit is better than all of those schools, we just aren't going to sign many kids this year as it is going to be a small recruiting class. Our average recruit rankings will finish in the same spot it always does, behind OSU, Michigan, Penn St., MSU and Nebraska, and similar too Wisconsin and Northwestern, and ahead of Minnesota, Rutgers, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois.

Each recruit has different things that are important to them.

Sounds like he was referring simply to Wirfs individual situation and his desire to stay close to home.

F off, you impugned the coordinators as "not recruiting".
No. I said " KF doesn't expect his coordinators to recruit". You're a moron and you can't read. I never once said they wouldn't recruit, or implied that they didn't want to recruit. You're a moron and you can't read.
I'm sure half of the board has you on ignore aleady, and I'm just late to the party. I'll rectify that oversight, now.

Too much of a wuss="I'm putting you on ignore!"

Fucking candy-ass snowflake
