Recruiting Coordinator

Since we can't seem to be able to land any good recruits with any consistency how do we go about changing? Does anyone have any background on our recruiting coordinator Seth Wallace? Other than he played at Coe College and coached d line at DII Valdosta State? Is this guy the right fit? I mean, how does one that was coaching d line at Valdosta State have any ties to any large high school programs in America? Is this another hire that Kirk put little thought into? I also read from Pat Harty's blog that when Kirk hired the three new positions 3 years ago each and every one of the hires were UNEMPLOYED at the time. It makes you wonder if he's just going through the motions.

Seth Wallace just accepted the position this summer..

was a 3 yr Grad Asst. at Iowa - worked w/ Norm the 1st year and Phil Parker the last 2.

Being a 'newly created' position - curious if it more organizational (visits, 24/7 texting 15 yr olds) or information gathering/initial contact/list generating - or both

There's a recruiting conundrum at Iowa: High school athletes who've spent a lifetime developing their athleticism don't realize their attitude is far more important than their athleticism at Iowa.
So, these high school athletes go to the school that appreciates their athleticism... not Iowa.

I sort of shook my head at the guy's background. I mean come on... Is this really the best person to be your recruiting coordinator? There is nobody out there better than someone who played at Coe and coached at a small program!? That being said, it sort of fits with Kirk's mentality that we are little 'ol Iowa. Please, Gary, reach an agreement with Kirk and let's get going in a new direction.

IMO, Wallace's credentials (or lack of them) is an indication KF either doesn't consider recruiting a high priority (player development is higher) or KF realizes Iowa won't be in the mix on 'high star' athletes.

This is the best you can do for a recruiting coord? Good grief. He's another yes man that KF has wrapped around his finger.

I do not want to belittle Seth Wallace at all but like many of you his credentials did not wow me for an area of the program like recruiting that is so vital to it's long term success.

It just gave the impression like so many things that are being done that everything is about being an underdog, over achiever, IVY league program. Thinking talent does not matter and we can take every johnny off the street and make him an all-B1G selection. Was this KF thumbing his nose at talent or deciding he is fed up trying to recruit it.

I really wanted to trust but the more this has moved forward with on the field results the harder it has become.
