Recruit Announcements

Tyler Harris visited Prov last weekend and now has set a decision date which I don't know because it is a paying privilege...not looking good

Harris just tweeted that his last official visit is at St. Johns this weekend. He hasn't mentioned anything about Iowa since his visit. Keeps talking about Providence and St. Johns (in his home state) teams and coaches. I'd give Iowa about a 1% chance of getting his commitment (only give us this chance because he has us in his top 5). We have a better chance at winning a national title this year in basketball than getting his commitment.

Moundou-Missi if we can beat Harvard for his services...had his school not sent a player to Harvard last year I would feel better about it.

Guy must be out-of-this-world smart. Has offers from Brown and Harvard, with interest from Princeton and Stanford.

lol but if he signs here there will be sooooo many people saying omg offers don't mean anything!!!!

if i had scholarships to that many prestigious schools id say screw it and go there...there have been players drafted from Ivy League too....

Totally agree but many on this board and others act like Harrison Barnes wouldn't have made it to the NBA if he'd played in the midwest...ya know.......cuz the scouts never see big 10 /big 12 games...

I have to agree with this... this is today's kids though. They want to do the Lebron James thing and join a favored club. They don't want to be the underdog. They don't want to work hard to earn something.
Did you know that college kids have less of a desire to lead/supervise than any modern time? Their main purpose is to find purpose... a meaning of why they exist and what the bigger picture of a job are. They want to make a difference without working hard.
Iowa picked a really bad time to hire Alford followed up by Lickliter. They lost the coolness to play for them. In the 80's Iowa was hip and we kept the in-state kids and picked up kids who were overlooked within their state such as Michigan, Arizona, Illinois. Now those teenagers think of Iowa basketball as horrible with no chance. They don't see anything else. We screwed up badly getting rid of Tom Davis. It was the end of Iowa Basketball as we knew it.
I have been asking what we can do? I would say go to the max on all NCAA allowable items. Practice Facility, dorms, food, benefits of any sort. We don't have a pro team in Iowa and it is painful to not have a good college team. We honestly would be in better shape had we been cheating and the NCAA punished us. Alford/Lickliter has done more damage to our program (our fault for hiring them) than the NCAA would have done for cheating!
We (The University of Iowa) is not doing what needs to be done to get a basketball team. We have to have the money? The Football team has to be a cash cow, the B10 Network, the Iowa fans desire. It is just sick that we can't bring in the talent... it wouldn't take that many.
On the other hand... our new coach was beating and almost beating some dang good teams at Sienna. I don't know much about Sienna, but I would certainly hope the talent level at Iowa would at least be comparable? I pray this Fran McCaffery coach can turn this around.
These pay for recruiting sites... why don't they ask the recruits the real questions... instead of asking why they chose the school of the blind, why don't they ask what was the main reason they didn't want to go to Iowa? We need to ask the right questions, fix the limiting factors, and market this gig. Losing in-state kids is what bothers me the most. Shame on them for not representing... they are the type that would move to Canada come war. I don't wish them good luck.

I am with you greghammel. Raef Lafrentz was traitor #1 and got the ball rolling on all of that. Screw Kansas.
