They damn near found a way to blow it with awful D and turnovers by Guyton and Lucy in the last minute. I get Guyton a bit - freshman dumbness and trying to do way too much dribbling but just can't understand the terrible handles and passing by Lucy. That damn one handed sidearm pass is a turnover every time.
Still, ugly W better than an L. Thank goodness Hannah had a huge, "welcome back" game.
Next up - a humbling beat down by JuJu and the Trojanettes. Even with CC on hand won't be enough. Let alone, JuJu gonna be pumped to impress and steal the spotlight as you know it'll be all about comparison.
Moral W if Hawks look competent and keep it under 15, which is right around what I expect spread to be. Key will be to flush it quick and regroup to try to steal next 2 games at Minny and Nebby. They will be the only quality win chances for Iowa rest of season and, if get them both, should get them in the dance.

I am going to make a bold prediction and say they beat USC. If think if they can get off to a hot start and get the crowd rocking, crazy things can happen.
The beauty of bold predictions is that if they happen, you are a genius! And if they don't...ahhh, I wasn't really serious about that crazy idea.

I wish I could agree.. My glass half empty side says Iowa's gonna turn it over too much like usual... My bold prediction is for those that don't know who Guyton is they will after this game. She just had her best game so far and coming into her own. This will be the biggest game/stage she's had to play on. I think she has another big game and puts herself on the map more.
Who's gonna get the JuJu matchup for us? Kylie or Syd? I'm afraid they'll both get turns and whomever does the best/stays out of foul trouble will get the most time on her.
Great question. Probably Syd, to start. I think Hannah might be our best bet because of JuJu's size and strength, but she will be needed elsewhere, and she might foul out in 20 minutes if she guarded JuJu the whole time.
We are going to have to give up something, I say we let her fire from deep and take our chances. She is certainly capable of making 3's (36%), but she is a demon if she gets in the paint. Back off a step, and let her shoot 3's with a hand in her face. If she drives, collapse into the lane, and make her kick it out and have someone else beat you. Maybe they shoot well and run us out of the gym. But if we catch them in a cold game, we have a chance. If we try to defend them straight up, there is no chance.
Also, junk it up a bit. Throw a box-and-1 at them out of timeouts or at quarter switches, steal a possession or 2 throughout the game.
Yeah Hannah can't be on her much just occasionally on switches. Size wise they are a match but not quickness wise not so much and Hannah would get herself in foul trouble. Besides with her at the 5 most of the time again she'll be needed on KiKi and she's a handful in her own right.
Yeah our best chance is catching them on a cold outside shooting night and we do a good job of baiting/forcing them into taking a lot of them. And then being hot ourselves. JuJu is prone to getting into foul trouble herself so maybe we can get lucky with that too...

It would be better if Caitlin was on board rather than on hand
A loss to the second ranked Trojanettes is to be expected, they are very good and the USC/UCLA game
will be a good on to watch
I watched the UCLA/South Carolina game early in the season and UCLA dominated the entire game
winning by 20 or so points
