Reason for optimism?

Are you serious? Iowa loses maybe three or four players of any consequence. They are loaded with with returning experience(especially on both lines and LB.) That is something that they haven't been able to say since 2010. If Iowa can get some average QB play(I'm not holding my breath) they should be a pretty tough out. It's not like they suck, and are graduating a Heisman candidate, they just suck. Hyde and James Ferentz are the only two players that I think will be tough to replace. Outside of maybe KeenanDavis, I expect Iowa to look better at nearly every other position on the field next year. Then again, that is the problem with expectations. They leave the door open for disappointment.

I agree, we have a ton coming back. The only question I have is how bad do they want it? How hard are they going to work between now and then? Can they get bigger/stronger? I think the future DL and OL could be the best in the conf and up to maybe 10 to 15th in the country in the next year or two, and that is where it all starts. We have BF back coaching the OL and RM has done very well with what he was handed.
