Reason for optimism?

I ususally consider myself a pretty optimistic Iowa fan. But after this disappointing season and seeing what we lose and who we have coming back, I just don't have a good feeling about next year. Can anyone hear help cheer me/my fellow hawk fans up? Homer? Anyone?

If there is reason, it hasn't shown up yet.

Huge questions at RB, WR, OL, and DL.

And our QB is terrible and Ferentz will stick with him no matter what.

No I can't. Until you have a leadership change, the results will not change. Recruiting is poor and obviously players don't stay.

Seems like we have some good recruits coming in.... history says we won't be able to do anything with them. Ooops, sorry.

Next year we're taking a page out of Wisconsin's playbook and only playing one non-conf. BCS team (and it's at home to boot).

We'll probably have a worse team next year (and this year's team really was average at best), but I think we'll start the year 5-0.

I don't know how great 3 cupcakes and home games against ISU and Minn will feel, but at least it's something.

Oh my lord you guys are pathetic. Jesus, you'd think the world has ended. Next year is a new year, yes there are question marks, but come on, 3-9? We have a pretty easy schedule next year.

We had a very easy schedule this year and we have less coming back next year than we did this year...we have questions at QB (we have a QB who plays scared on the road), RB, WR, the OL, and especially the DL, plus any of the good recruits we have been recruiting will leave. Oh but we do have the same offensive coordinator and his seven plays. Oh and we still will have the ultra conservative, nothing will change, take no risks, Iowa has no sizzle, play not to lose attitude of the head coach to carry us forward. Which of the last place teams does Iowa lose to next year--Minnesota or Indiana? But then, Iowa will be quite lucky if they aren't fighting for that last place in the B1G.

If I told you would you have believed me?

I hope you all are currently season ticket holders, because the people who are on the waiting list are going to be more than excited to pick up your tickets when you don't renew.

Are you serious? Iowa loses maybe three or four players of any consequence. They are loaded with with returning experience(especially on both lines and LB.) That is something that they haven't been able to say since 2010. If Iowa can get some average QB play(I'm not holding my breath) they should be a pretty tough out. It's not like they suck, and are graduating a Heisman candidate, they just suck. Hyde and James Ferentz are the only two players that I think will be tough to replace. Outside of maybe KeenanDavis, I expect Iowa to look better at nearly every other position on the field next year. Then again, that is the problem with expectations. They leave the door open for disappointment.
