Reality: We are down to our 8th string RB

Thats the facts. Garmon... Bullock... Those guys would be 8 deep on a normal depth chart.

I think the chances Rodgers sees significant carries just went way way up.

I figure Bullock will do fine. The last few years the running game looks like it is going to be pretty bleak for Iowa due to losses of players... but ends up working out just fine.

Im sure it will go the same way this year.

Rogers with majority of carries & blocking on pass plays, with Garmon/Bullock as change of pace. It's the only way.

I am excited about seeing what Garmon can do. He has a burst to the outside that I haven't seen from many Iowa players over the years. He's not going to be the traditional running back that we see at Iowa. But he's going to be exciting to watch.

Assuming he can stay healthy of course.

Edit: Watch the 9:50 mark to see what I mean. Love his quickness to the outside.

8th string?
1) Wegher
2) Hampton
3) Robinson
4) Coker
5) McCall
6) D'Andre Johnson
7) Greg Garmon

Maybe 7...but Garmon is better than some of these guys....maybe a lot of them. We'll see. McCall only carried the ball maybe 9 times.

are you referring to him catching a pass? the play prior (9:50) shows him getting stuffed in the backfield. next play was the pass i referred to.

That is all he can do. That gimmick wing option position he played in high school did not prepare him to read blocks or run through traffic. He made his name hitting the corner with a head start from the motion. Maybe he could do something in a Reggie Bush role this year.

What about that Irish/Hawaiian guy who got carries early in the season in 2009. I think he still goes to Iowa.

Oh I'm a bit worried AWTY, just have a bit more confidence in our RB's left this year than in '04. Our D is not where it was then and we will need better production from our RB's this year.

It's flawed logic to say Iowa is down to its 8th stringer. If Coker, Wegher, Robinson, and Hampton were all still here, Garmon (and Hill, for that matter) would likely be on a different campus this fall.
