Re-watched the Second Half - Paulson

He's going to be really good. He had some issues as most young players would, but for the most part...he played really well. He blatantly missed a stunt where Smoot was passed from Welsh and it blew up the play...and he missed a few blocks when he was asked to pull, which was a lot, but for the most part...he got where he needed to be which is half the battle at this level. He's going to be a really good, BIG, football player. He had a few combo blocks that were impressive where he got to the second level with ease. Damn...if this OL can get better in pass protection...you have 6-7 guys now that have played a ton of football on the OL...and they are all back next year. As a unit, they just need to protect better in the passing game.

I thought he attributed himself pretty well too. My hope as well is that with all these guys coming back next year that 5 of them can emerge and help Stanley get off to a good start next year. These games of passing for less than 100 let alone 200 yards a game will not work going forward. I don't think Iowa can be that run heavy and nor does KF want to be.

It was reported in Land of 10 that KF pulled Levi aside and told Paulson to be ready to start against Nebby.

Another comment from Land of 10,
"Thoughts on first-time starter Levi Paulsen and sophomore Keegan Render:
First time (Paulsen is) playing significant snaps. Keegan went through some ups and downs, and it looks like he’s settling down and he’s comfortable now with that experience. I’ll have to see the film, but it looked like from the sideline that Levi did a really nice job and that’s critical because we’re getting a little thin".

I watch every game from start to finish on television, and I love seeing the Hawks win. But you could not force me to watch any of the last game with a gun to my head. Illinois just gave up late, and it was basically a clinic in bad offensive football from the start. If it weren't for the punt return in the first half the game could have stayed close and a single turnover could have changed things.

Why do you think Illinois gave up?? Do you think that maybe Iowa's ability to impose its will running the ball had anything to do with that? I don't care what our offense does,as long as its consistently moving the chains and doing it running the ball is as much fun as throwing it.

I'll reserve my opinion until I hear Ickehawk's game film evaluation. Even tho we all know he will say how bad Welsh and Daniels is and how good everyone else is.
When have I ever commented on Welsh or Daniels? PC stands for 'pathetic charlatan', doesn't it...(l understand you don't know what a charlatan is, look it up sonny). I should be done 'grading' out the OL tonite and I'll give a full report........

I had 2 thoughts watching Paulsen. 1--He's good and really going to help us. 2--I wish we could clone him so we'd have another just like him.

Well played.

These 2 are from my hometown, really really good kids. They will work their butt off. Both will end up really good.

"attributed" himself?... I'm guessing you mean "acquitted himself".

I'm not, in the least, convinced the bolded is true.

I do. I think he would rather Iowa be closer to a 200/200 split. How many times has Iowa gotten close to that and lost? Not very many I bet. 400 yards of offense should be the goal every game at the least and getting it in a balanced attack only helps. Now when the weather is crappy and it turns into a half a game of offense due to wind that's one thing. But under normal circumstances...

Learn the Game and you might not be so Feckless. Look it up.

Yea, he's going to be pretty decent. What happened to Lucas Legrand, though. Wonder why he hasn't been in the mix after doing well early in the season when filling in.
