Big10er, I completely agree with your split backfield approach. I think there's many different plays that can be run out of that… Limiting the amount the defense will be able to "key on" certain plays. I like the idea, and that's why i didn't disagree with you on it. I do disagree with having the Hammer close to the LOS. See my comment below.
Having in the Hebrew Hammer close to the line of scrimmage, at the FB position, limits the amount of reading he can do on the blocking. And reading the blocking is an integral part of a zone blocking scheme.
