If you think I am 100% false that Kroul was forced to play in 2005 because of lack of talent and depth...well I guess I would have to say you are 100% false.

My point was that there were guys on the roster at DT who were far more touted than Kroul had been. Obviously, having a RS FR be a top contender for a spot as of the spring ... yeah, I would agree that that isn't exactly ideal. My impression is that the coaches were trying to reward guys who were putting in the work and showing progress ... and Kroul was definitely one of those guys. Eshareturi and Kittrell just didn't have their "heart in it" ... and weren't practicing with the same intensity, effort, and consistency. That's also what happens when guys are feeling homesick.

Lastly, whatever you might say about Kroul ... he still was able to fight off guys like Kanellis and Bain ... both of whom were far more touted than he. The fact that he was able to do that suggests to me that he was a bit better than you're giving him credit.

Hmmm ... in light of Jon's post about Iowa recruiting some JUCO D-linemen ... I certainly stand corrected. Furthermore, since I've been emphasizing how we're seemingly looking iffy at DE opposite Alvis for '12 ... I am certainly pleased that we're targeting a guy at DE.
