Ranking for Michigan Game

Here are some important games next week that will help determine where Iowa will be ranked going into Ann Arbor in 2 weeks:

Thursday
#6 Nebraska @ Kansas State

Saturday
#1 Alabama @ #20 South Carolina
Indiana @ #2 Ohio State (Not really upset alert)
#12 LSU @ #7 Florida
#15 Arkansas @ Texas A&M
#24 Michigan State @ #19 Michigan (Whoever wins will definitely be ahead of Iowa)
#4 Oregon @ Washington State (Not really upset alert)
Oregon State @ #14 Arizona (I expect Arizona to win but who knows)
#13 Utah @ Iowa State (Yes we have to cheer for Iowa State)
#10 Auburn @ Kentucky
Toledo @ #3 Boise State
Florida State @ #16 Miami

With Iowa's mid-point being #15 tomorrow (whoever loses Michigan v Michigan State will be below Iowa), I think Iowa could expect a #11 - #15 ranking depending on upsets next week for the Michigan game. If Michigan wins then I expect they will be ranked #8 - #11. With the only other gameday options being:

Texas (unranked) @ #6 Nebraska
#15 Arkansas @ #10 Auburn
#2 OSU @ #11 Wisconsin

I think if Michigan wins, Ann Arbor will be a likely spot for gameday, but a Nebraska loss and either Arkansas or Auburn loosing would be greatly appreciated.

If Auburn and Arkansas take care of business next week, Gameday will be at Auburn. It's the SEC Network, and they could both be top 10 teams by then.

GameDay won't be in Ann Arbor two weeks in a row. They are going there next week for MSU/Michigan game.

Really? I suppose that is one of the bigger match-ups next week but I think they should hope Michigan wins and take it to Ann Arbor for the Iowa game.

There is no way that, even if Michigan wins, they should be in the top 10. I don't think they are a top 25 team to be honest.

Just because they shouldn't, doesn't mean they won't. Texas and Florida were HUGELY overrated too. And they didn't get knocked out until they took BIG losses. If Michigan wins next week, they could very easily be in the top 10, whether they deserve it or not (they don't).

I think we are about to see a lot of weird things because they cant have too many ranked Big Ten teams.

I don't really care about the ranking anymore. They're fun but since it just hasn't been a year of upsets I don't see us backing into the championship game (I think we'd need a lot of teams to go down a couple of time honestly) so I'm going to enjoy running the table and getting to the Rose Bowl.

That being said I see us being 14th or so without thinking about it too much. Penn State just isn't that good and I think the pollsters know that now.

I suppose around 14-15, but as everyone else is saying, just win this game and the ranking will take care of itself. Once the game starts, the rankings are meaningless..

In that scenario, a 6-0 Michigan team that just beat a ranked MSU *should* be ranked above a 4-1 Iowa team. Good grief, take off the homer glasses.

We all know Michigan has some serious flaws, but they've been able to overcome them so far. Winning matters. Hopefully Iowa will expose those flaws on the field in 2 weeks (if MSU doesn't first)

Um, I did. I'm a Michigan fan. They aren't a Top 10 team. If there defense get's to mediocre then they may be but I don't see that happening. They will have to get to 8-0 before I change my opinion on that and I am pretty sure it won't happen. You just can't consistently win with that defense. I don't know what flaws you think are going to be exposed. The defense is terrible. It was exposed against ND, which by the way gave MSU more trouble at home than they did Michigan when Michigan was on the road. You aren't going to completely stop the offense. You may hold them to about 21 points but they will score a little.
