Rank the players (as of 1/31/14) regardless of position

Not saying you do this but I see JO as much more than just a 3 point shooter and think he brings a lot more to the team than just being able to go off from 3.

He gets a pretty bad rap on this board and from a lot of Hawk fans I know because of how he shot it last year. Its fair criticism but that was last year.

He is just a solid player, not just a shooter.

I think it was you in a different thread who made a negative comment about the offensive movement when JO is in the game. How is that Oglesby's fault? If he is working that hard and busting has *** to get open and cant then the defense is helping off the guys who are screening and it should be on them to find open space.

Its like when Oglesby is in the game and the offense stalls its automaticlly is his fault because of the reputation he has as a lights out shooter.

This. Iowa could be very dangerous when JO is in but they dont quite get it. JO needs to shoot more and everybody else needs to understand spacing, kickouts, and back cuts when JO is in. They also need to pass the ball to where he is going and stop waiting for him to get there. He could get twice as many looks if they would have the ball waiting for him when hes coming off screens.

This. I probably wouldn't rate him QUITE as high as you did, but Oglesby brings plenty to the table. He's very similar to Gatens, IMO. Maybe not a carbon copy (I think Gatens was a little better on defense due to athleticism and a bit better ball handler, but Oglesby is a better passer and shooter; both are/were excellent at moving without the ball. It's honestly pretty fun to watch JO work to get open), but both guys are/were far more than just 3-point shooters.

You have Gesell WAY too low:

1. Marble
2. Gesell
3. Uthoff
4. White
5. Basabe
6. Olesani
7. Everyone else tied for most worthless

We don't bash kids on this site. Criticism should be leveled carefully.

As to the question presented: I think this team is a great example of being a very fine basketball team due to the "sum of its parts." I really would not know how to "rank" the players as individuals, nor do I really care. Just my opinion...

1 - Marble
2 - White
3 - Gesell
4 - Woodbury
5 - Basabe
6 - Oglesby
7 - Utoff
8 - Olaseni
9 - McCabe
10 - Clemmons

I rate Basabe lower (and maybe could rate White lower) is because they tend to disappear. I rate Woody higher because he's important in the offensive and defensive schemes, even though he doesn't rack up a lot of statistics (even though his stats have risen since conference play started).

EDIT: And anyone who rates Olaseni above Woodbury isn't watching the same games I've been watching.

I think you got it right. I might swap Basabe and Woodbury, but overall, I agree.
