Random thoughts: CJB & Weisman / Wadley are this week's key to V

It will be hard enough to repeat the execution and intent shown against NwU but, add to that the schizo trends of Iowa "offense" and Minny will be a "1 step back" game.

Jake (and that G.d.G.D.) are already over-thinking the cold and wind -- passing attack will be "forced" into check downs / horizontal passes.

Must retain some vertical passing attack; CJB has stronger arm and more apt to play through the wind to deliver catchable ball.

Minny is susceptible, especially lately, to strong rushing attacks and Iowa's is starting to evolve with the Weisman / Wadley combo.

Minny has allowed the following to opposing QB's
E-Ill 27 rushes = 92 yards
TCU 12 rushes = 92 yards
Michigan(Gardner) 5 rushes = 23 yards
Purdue 10 rushes = 79 yards
Illannoy 17 rushes = 59 yards.

With exception of NwU, every opposing QB has rushed for positive yards. CJB is more mobile and willing to run from trouble.

Not saying CJB should start but definitely needs to play at first sign of offensive stagnation and, intentionally, several series. Otherwise, the box will thicken and this could look a lot like ISU.

CJB will not see the field on Saturday unless Iowa is up by 30+ or Rudock breaks something.

News flash: Jake is a better QB than CJB right now. (I really like CJB, just to be clear.)

My random thought for the IA/Minn game is ...."Don't muck it up Ferentz"...Stick with what works until they stop it....

Here's all we need to know about this weekend and where we stand against the Goofers.....statistically, we should win, unless we pull a boner or something....

According to Ferentz the play calling is purely Davis. Therefore, if they play great or poorly, it's all on GD at this point in time and Ferentz doesn't have anything to do with it.

Good point Sparky, "Davis, don't muck it up".....:)

Not only is CJB not the key to victory this week he will likely see very little, if any, playing time. Rudock is miles ahead at this point.

The real key to victory... as it nearly always is... will be the play of the offensive line backed by the defense's ability to shut down the opponent.

CJB will not be a factor.
