Question for Jon Miller concerning tv coverage

Yeah, we were crappy last year, but so was Indiana and they are getting 9 of their preconference games broadcast on the BTN. I just want to see some semblance of equality. I thought the BTN was supposed to support ALL the teams in the league.

It is horsecrap that IA has nearly twice the games of anyone else on .com.

How weird twice the games pushed to the internet bought up exclusively by the company with the logo on floor.

This reeks of IA/BTN/Mediascum corroboration.

I live in New York and can't attend the games, so I just want to figure out what I need to do to watch them. Will the $9.95/month Big Ten digital school package get me every game that's not on TV? Can someone clarify this for me?

I honestly don't even care about the ten bucks/month, I just want to make sure that that option is the only thing I need to sign up for. I see the reason why an 11-win team doesn't get a lot of games televised, but I don't understand why the streaming options are so complicated and poorly explained.

Looks like I'm able to watch 2 games until the conference season. That kind of sucks but it is what it is. I'll be following on the computer though in some capacity. Probably through ESPN.com or something.

The $14.95 package gets you all of the schools, the $9.95 package gets you only Iowa games.

There is also a promo code floating around somewhere on this forum that gives you a month free.

The overflow channels...

Lack of TV games disappoint for me too as BTN only option I have here in FL. I guess could go for streaming but my computer setup not best for that.
Then again, I look at games not being shown and think, who the heck they playing?? I understand the schedule this year as want to try and improve record but I can also understand that it is Iowa (at this time, one fo lower level Big Ten teams) against ???

My hope is that BTN eventually decides to use a second channel during basketball season. I never have understood issues there but hopefully it will happen in couple years. I assume cost is the issue and it would be more of daily need rather than just saturdays, as it is during football season.

cost $$ and my guess is the BTN can't justify the cost for non-conference games between Iowa and Chicago State.

This is the one aspect of the BTN that I'm not enjoying.

Indiana (even in their current crapiness)...

is still more of a draw than Iowa is. We have been irrelevant for a decade or so now, so until Iowa starts winning more that's the way it will be.

Don't like it and it's no way to build the fan base back. Hopefully if Hawks can win more than they lose this year. return a lot of guys next year and get on the tube some more.

Why can't they show all the games on BTN and put some on the BTN alternate channels like they do for football when there is more than 1 game on at a time?

It is really annoying though, get your own network and get to watch less games.

That pretty much sums it up for me. The BTN has been a step backwards for the fans IMO. It's fine for football, but the basketball coverage is ticking me off.

I preferred the ESPN Full Court days, even if it was $100+ for the season. I could watch almost every game (plus other games too) without having to sit in front of a computer screen or cuddle with a laptop. Not to mention the streaming is in a very small window. Or, you can go full screen and watch a choppy, blurry picture. And now they want us to pay extra for that. The streaming used to be free at least, but hasn't been the past couple years. What's next?

Plus there was also the option of being able to DVR the game and watch it later if you couldn't be home when the games were on TV.

This is what I don't understand. There have been weeks in the past that there were 4 football games on at the same time on the overflow channels. Yet basketball they don't use them at all?

I think the BTN should be able to profit but there needs to be a better balance of profit and product.

The product is lackng whereas profit is not.
